Anyone else getting excited about the Journey/Santana?

Rumor has it that Carlos Santana wants to reunite his band from Santana III for a new album. This includes Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie. Now there is talk about a double bill tour for next year, where Journey will open and Santana headlines. The cool part of it is that Neal will shed Journey and step onto the stage with the band that is Santana, including all surviving original members from that era. This, should it happen, will be epic, just unbelievable. It's probably the coolest thing both bands could give us. Talk about full circle! :)

How do you feel about it?

I'm super excited for the potential of a new Santana record with the "real" Santana lineup. Those first three records are still one of the most amazing three-album runs in rock music.

I think this would be cool, especially if it was actually a double headliner type deal. You could have Neal playing in both bands - Gregg coming out to jam a few with Journey. Would be one of those rare musical happenings, that are so very far and few these days.

Unfortunately to me, I don't think Friga would be into this at all. Possibly only in the double headliner situation. I just don't see it happening though. (if it does though, better get that shit down on DVD  )

While we are in fantasy land about a Journey/Santana double bill, have Journey play the Departure-era setlist (found on Captured) with a couple of the 80's hits as an encore, and that would be amazing.

I think that if this happens, or is even seriously considered, it's a sign that Journey is coming to an end. It sounds to me like Neal may be looking elsewhere for his $'s.

Definitely a show I'd go see, hoping not only to see Neal play with Santana - but also see Greg come out for some tunes with Journey. Let's face it...there isn't much "new" going on at the Journey gigs these days. If this infuses some new energy into the shows, I'm all for it.

Interesting lineup, would have to be a double headliner for sure.
