Troubled Child

Perhaps the most underrated Journey song. The synth work almost reminds me of Depeche Mode. I like that the lyrics aren't about "crazy summer nights" and similar contrived ideas. I bet it would sound awesome live.
"It's really important if you're going to remain a valid band that you play your new stuff. Otherwise you become a parody of what you started out doing." - Janick Gers of Iron Maiden

Great synth work and Perry is sublime here. One of the few tracks that puts Neal in the back seat, Jon and Steve make this song.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

Will always be one of my favorite tracks. Perfectly placed on the album. I'm trying to remember if it was ever a B side release?

I actually think Ross might be the star of 'One More'.

Or, as the late Deano might have said, Tales of the Crypt.

I always loved this song and agree that it would sound great live. an under-rated Frontiers tune for sure. Smitty kills it on this tune.

Love the B side of Frontiers, can even tolerate Backtalk for Smiths drums. Wish this would have been an instrumental, Perry should never scream
Troubled Child is one of Journeys best songs.
So glad it made the cut, and that OTY and ATL reemerged on future releases.

As a keyboardist, Troubled Child is one of my all-time favorite Journey songs!! I must admit that it was a bitch to learn though. Damn you Cain! I learned this song during my time with Frontiers and played it with them a time or two. DEFINITELY one of my favorites. That one and "Mother Father" who our guitarist used to call "Mother Fucker".  I don't know why, but Mother Father never seemed to go over well with the crowd. It's also one of my favorites, and every time we played it, people would go to the bathroom break or get beer. Weird...

I have always loved Ross' playing on "One More." Smith and Schon kick ass on it too.

One More is one of my all time favorite Journey songs. Lyrically it is still very relevant. Yeah I think Ross is amazing on this song and Steve's vocals are incredibly raw and emotional - phenomenal

David's awesome, but let me guess who mixed this... the guitarist? Holy FUCK he's dominating everything in the song. At least he does a good job, but damn dude... bring the guitars down and bump up the keys a little! The harmonies sound cool too, but they aren't mixed great either. I really like their version. Pretty cool! Thanks for posting it penis!

A true Journey gem and certainly one of the most under-rated songs from the later Perry era. Everything and everyone is exceptional on this song. Neal needs to take a listen to the studio cut of this song and remember how to play "fierce soulful and melodic" which mixing those things masterfully used to be his trademark before he abandoned it for more shredding.

Love this song, love the whole b side of Frontiers. Hell there's not a bad song on that CD (to me).

I LOVE Troubled Child! Heck, I love that entire album. It's the album that solidified me as a Journey fan. Loved the fact that the B-side of this album seemed to have a "Space" or adventure theme to it, which seemed very appropriate for that time period since Star Wars, Tron, and Indiana Jones were at the height of their popularity around that time. The album will always remind me of those movies, but also reminds me of my childhood and the time period back then.
