Must be refreshing and at the same time a bit nostalgic for Cain. In his home, creating something with a singer right there (not counting, his daughter of course). That's how rock bands used to do it back in the day.

Can't wait to hear the next Journey album. (Yes, I'm hopeful it'll happen.) I wouldn't mind Jon taking this rekindled Nashville influence and throwing it in; I think the itch Neal had for "hard rock" Journey has been sufficiently scratched that the new one will see a return to the old partnership.

I predict an EP to be released next year.
Red 14.

Wouldn't mind that either. Red 13 was great; the only reason it doesn't get more spins in my car or on my iPod is because of its horrible, horrible sound quality.

But hopefully they'll collaborate with RF. I've been playing the Crossroads take on "Life Is A Highway" a lot for the past couple of days (thanks to you, Don) and I'm really digging it.

I predict at least one more Journey retread before the band is done recording also.

Acoustic retreads would be fine with me, since quality electric retreads are clearly out of the question.

I'm cool with Cain just doing this too. Taking tunes where he and Perry were the primary collaborators and helping young performers put their own unique spin on them.

Cain/Schon have produced other artists' albums before. Good for Cain. Gotta say, Charlie Rey's Journey covers sound like uninspired emo crap.

Jon can do emo Journey with the best of them.

I would love for Cain to record an album of the Journey classics reworked with new, upcoming artists. And yes, I would love to hear acoustic versions.

I don't understand any of it as far as that naming in concerned. What is Red 13 and why would it be Red 17?

Red 13 is the first EP by the rock band Journey
Released November 26, 2002

History

The EP was the first released on the band's own label, Journey Music. Originally sold only via the band's website, the online edition featured cover art by Kelly McDonald. When the album was packaged for retail sale, a new cover designed by artist and Journey fan Christopher Payne[1] was chosen.

Red 13 is an experimental EP recorded by the band as a thank you to their fans for standing by Journey. The four songs range from a slight return to their progressive roots, a bluesy hard rocker, a cinematic ballad with a dark side and their trademark melodic rock. The band released this EP on to their website and, later, with cover art created by one of their fans (Christopher Payne), worldwide.[2]

"Walkin' Away from the Edge", which was co-written with Queensrÿche frontman Geoff Tate (Despite Tate not receiving a writing credit), was originally recorded by the band during the Arrival sessions, but ultimately not used.[3][4]

Interesting on WAFTE! I can hear Geoff Tate singing that song.

Tate auditioned for Journey. He seems like an asshole these days, but that would've been a very interesting choice.

I remember a Schon interview saying they wrote few songs with Tate and they sounded great, but he wasnt happy how Tate did with the classics. I wonder why Tate didnt get a writing credit? You can really hear his influence.
