$55 were the cheap seats for that concert? After die hard fans complaining about short set lists from the band Journey over the past few years, I hope people got their money's worth.

i didn't see one disappointed face in the crowd. people were singing along, on their feet and they got more than just jouney songs. they got sam cooke, led zep and a bit of the who. great singing, great musicians, great show. plus, they all got a meet and greet after the show with steve and the band too.

More of a summary, less of a review. Sounds like a good show. Funny, right out of the gate, Augeri has offered a more varied set-list than his former band. Sam Cooke, solo material, post-Perry material, Led Zep covers...good stuff.

That's great - as long as everyone had a great time. $55 for a cheap seat for a show that looked (on paper) to be less than 90 minutes just seemed a little light to me, but it's all about making folks happy.

I really wish he would do Walking Away From The Edge. Still, sounds like a good time. Was about 90 miles from me. I would have liked to go, but $110 + fees/gas money/dinner money was just a little more than I was willing to spend.

I'd give the 55 to see Augeri no problem. I loved him as the lead singer for Journey and I believe he is a good guy. Couple that with his back up band being Valentine, my favorite band ever, I'll pay that and then some, no problem.

When he played the casino in Bensalem, Pa a year or two back it was free. All depends on what the venue wants to charge.

He's a sweetheart. Good for him just getting out and enjoying playing and still having support from many fans.

Damn he still sounds like shit. I had to turn It off after about 2 mins of Faithfully.

He sounds way better than me trying to sing it.

I think Steve sounds good enough. Not to do a 40 city tour in 2 months, but an enjoyable concert here and there. In person I loved the show. If you don't like it, go watch your American Idol crooner shows. I can think of a lot of rock legends who would never have had a career in the current karaoke climate.
S.A. gives a somewhat varied show with some tracks Journey will never play. I'll see him again, and he gets great responses live.

AR, I appreciate your comments. You're a good dude dude. Well done.
I think Steve sounds good enough, like AR said. I really think Steve could have maintained well with a better mic and sound person on live shows. I think Steve had to over sing to continually hit the high notes for Journey. If he would have been able to sing without pushing with a super hot mic, I think he would have been ok in the long term. Perry ran a mod'd Neumann M249 in the studio, a brilliant, VERY HOT mic. I'd like to see what Perry ran in his live vocal chain as compared to Augeri. I'm really wondering if some of Perry's longevity came from running a different vocal chain live as compared to Augeri.
The first thing I learned singing in a band is the vocal chain will make or break you. Upping the mic sensitivity with a good pre-amp helped me a TON on the top end.
Jeremey, what are your thoughts here? You have a lot of experience singing live.

From recent clips, I'd say Steve is pretty much back 80-95%. Those that say he sounds like shit have an unrealistic view of what the man sounded like to begin with (get a clue, guys - the Vegas dvd vocals were sweetened and produced). After watching this, I gotta say it seemed like a great show. Augeri is back in fighting form.

Agreed! Please bring back the tapes Steve!!

This is just so sad. Ed, I'm like you... I LOVED the fact that he helped me have a chance to see my favorite childhood band live for the first time. I went to 6 concerts with him and had a great time at all of them. He struggled HARD the first show I saw (which was their 3rd or 4th show with him), and then he sounded way better the next year. He sounded solid until the last couple of shows, and you could tell he was REALLY struggling.
With that said... he sounds terrible in these clips. On Faithfully, he keeps going "hmm" before each phrase like he's warming up to the note or something. It's distracting and he just sounds like ass. I'm glad that he's still doing what he loves, and that there are still people paying to see him. More power to him, but there's no way I'd pay to see this show. I'd like to remember him as he was in his prime and just move on. He does seem like a really nice guy and I wish him the best.

The audio of a 1998 San Rafael concert w/ Augeri has been uploaded on YT. Augeri fans should check it out. Great singer then and now.

He was struggling with Faithfully in his first show. It's not that he can't sing it, but he was trying too hard to sound just like Perry and the high notes were killing him. Should have made it his own like he is now from the start and he might still be in the band. Still my favorite Journey singer though
