Thanks Mr Lucero - Hey by the way, did I share with you the latest stuff from The Waiting?

Just clips of tunes, but regardless, some stuff from a show last month:

Cain crying and being sappy and Neal making cock jokes. Pretty much sums up the band dynamic right there. Vapid cock rock + sincere schmaltz = Journey.

Oops...

Great story. DSB notwithstanding, Faithfully is easily the band's most outstanding song, imo. All the credit to JC for writing such a wonderful song...but it's really SP's vocals that took it to the pinnacle (best of the best). And Neal's outro was memorable, also.

Good stuff, Jeremey. Your voice has gotten deeper ... or maybe focusing on different material?

Thanks Annie, it's a combination of things ... I'm singing in a lower register than with the Journey stuff so the sound of my voice is different, plus I'm singing in the style of Tom Petty, so there's a more laid back drawl in my delivery.

Where my voice will always have problems is right around the middle of my register (where most of the Journey stuff is) where the "groove" in the side of my vocal cord is from continuing to sing through 3 vocal cord hemorrhages after that fog machine incident. Imagine if you have a zipper, and there's a kink in the zipper about halfway up. So you can zip that zipper down below the kink until it gets stuck ... or you could zip the zipper down from the top until it got caught on the way down. That is why I can still sing something like "Don't Stop Believin," which is all above that kink, but a song like "Faithfully" rides right between that little kink and it gets caught in the middle of all those notes.

The cool thing about Petty is that his upper register breaks up right about where that kink is in my vocal cord, so I can actually use that to some effect to get a more authentic sound in my upper register when singing his songs.
