Deen interview

Postby Infinity Vocalist 2010 » Thu Jul 25, 2013 11:18 am

The Belleville Intelligencer got an interview with Deen in anticipation for Saturday's show in my city.

She's got some of her facts wrong but still, worth a read I guess.
She also interviewed Neal Doughty from REO, who takes the stage tomorrow.
Also, a close friend of mine got to interview David Paich of Toto who plays Friday night (link in the Toto boards)

MM: Looking back, with all the inner-band struggles, how does an iconic band such as Journey keep going?

DC: “As cheesy as it sounds, we just didn't stop believing. In ourselves or our fans. In fact, we've got a two year tour lined up. It's going to be a fast and heavy 2014 and 2015. It's perfect. This entire experience has been humbling.”

Perry's good natured bonhomie & the world’s most charmin smile, knocked fans off their feet. Sportin a black tux, gigs came alive as he swished around the stage thrillin audiences w/ charisma that instantly burnt the oxygen right out of the venue.TR.com

My reaction as well. I had to shake myself, but Neal also said on his page he's booked through '15.

Lots of questions about post-Perry material. I don't agree with Deen that Eclipse is a throwback to Escape. If anything, it's a throwback to side 2 of Frontiers.

lead singers in Journey are obviously replaceable
Just go back to youtube and get a younger guy, like Menudo.

This may be the last hard push before retirement, who knows.

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I don't know why everyone always tries to predict the retirement of the band. In fact, I can't imagine them ever being truly retired. I can see a day when long tours aren't part fo the equation, but there is nothing in it for Journey to end at this point. They can always do a thing here and there.

it'll be retirement time when the risk/reward ratio is no longer favorable to any potential singer..
