So Why is Mitch Milloy Not in Journey?

I just found this guy from the main page. After listening to the Van Halen saga, I had a listen to a couple of his songs. Wow, he's not the same sound as Perry so he's different enough but has the right vibe. The dude sounds good to me!

And he's a Pontiac guy to boot, top notch!

Completely agree. I'm guilty of the "glad mitch didn't get the gig" post on the VH board. But the track in the doc called "It's the Right Time" definitely sounds like a fresh VH I would have gotten into. Consider also that the reunion recordings with Sammy featured a track called "It's About Time." Hmmmm... Maybe Mitch has a lawsuit to file??

But true -- Mitch sounds like he has the tenor for Journey.

Thanks for that link i just watched it. Thats a cool documentary and great story. Think I want to check out some of his work, have certain,y heard his name a lot but ie never heard his music. Have to wonder what might of been, that Dave move on MTV was a huge blunder, VH III could have been great with Mitch. Gary with them was just obnoxious and Mitch seems like he would have been a good fit.

cool documentary, and the song he finished sounded great.
but glad he did not end up in the sinking ship of VH, he has too much talent for that.

Maybe so, but it's really not like the guy as a high profile on his merits alone. Fronting VH would have made him a household name even if the project tanked. I honestly wouldn't have been able to pick the lead singer of Extreme out of a line-up, but thanks to Van Halen, I know who Gary Cherone is (for better or worse).

I don't think his voice, at least now, would stand up to Journey touring. Maybe 15-20 years ago, but not now. Great singer and songwriter though. For what it's worth, Mitch covered Stone in Love on his Firefest live dvd, Live From Rock City.

That song was finished with Gary Cherone (with different lyrics, obviously), but then cut from the album at the last minute. While I don't think it holds up next to the best Van Hagar singles, I think it would've been a high point of VH3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2a35goOLH4

Wow that doesn't even sound remotely close to malloys version, I can see why they cut it

Mitch is awesome. Wouldn't fit Journey though.

Let me guess, too strong of a personality to suite the puppet master Schon? Based on the interview, it sure sounded like Mitch is capable and will do what he wants to do. I reckon that is obvious turning down the VH gig.
