Ross's bass

Postby brywool » Thu Feb 20, 2014 1:49 am

So Ross plays a 4 string mostly that I've seen. And yet I hear the really low note in there.
Does anyone know if he tunes his bass down to mimic a 5 string? Sure sounds like it.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Thanks, I actually searched some bass forums and found that too. On the Live in Manilla dvd that is being thrashed in another thread, I was listening to it and noticed his tuning. Great sound! I've not seen a guy use a BEAD as opposed to standard tuning on a 4 string. I remember when I first heard "Raised on Radio" (the song) and I remember really digging that low D note he was playing. It was the first time I'd noticed that much bottom end on the bass. That probably wasn't Ross as that's the album where they booted him but I always dug that sound. Looks like Ross has made that his standard deal. Pretty cool!
