If Journey wanted to become a lip-sync act I think Hugo would be an unbeatable choice! When I watched it without sound I was impressed with what a dead ringer for Perry he is. With the sound on...not so much. Too bad too, because he sure has his heart in it! Can't knock him for that.

I haven't heard what Arnel sounds like lately but from what I've read here his voice is gone. I know I could go to youtube and see for myself but I don't really care anymore.

I saw that recent interview with Perry where he sings a little and promises new music "maybe this year"!

Pull the other one Steve. Anyway, shortly afterwards I ran across the clip above and what the hell? Hugo still looks like Perry whereas Perry doesn't sound or look like his old self.

As for lipsynch, as Deano showed us, it wouldn't be the first time they've done it. But yeah, its just a tongue in cheek rib at the band.

Thin weak voice. Tho this clip is decent. Def not in the same league as any of the Journey contenders. And didn't Neal and Co. sue Hugo, and make him stop touring with the Valentine guys? They are now w/ Augeri. Hugo's new bassist looks like the love child of Meat Loaf and Lou Gramm.

If looks gets you there, you have a point. But the vocals, as good of a guy as Hugo is, are too thin. I have a better falsetto than that.

Also, while Hugo's a great singer and sounds a lot like SP, the act of "being SP" is a definite turnoff.
And this from a guy who has all of Hugo's solo albums, so I like him, but not in Journey.

Hugo in Journey would be just creepy, I liked his solo career, but not with Journey. It would be the same if Jeremy still wore the wig if he stayed on.

wow...like everyone here, I've seen the Hugo videos looking and singing like SP... those were from years ago... this is just last year!

I think its too late , he's in his early 50's now, I love his solo stuff but I just don't know how his voice would be able to hold up starting in his 50's with this band.

Yeah, Hugo really has aged well, I wonder how Augeri 's performance here would translate back on the real stage with all the wizardry that journey or any other big band could create.I would imagine that any of the lead singers going to a local bar or club would not sound so great compared to how they sound on the big stage.

It was never totally fried. I know alot of fans on MR beg to differ, but recent SA concert clips are very encouraging. Everyone has off nights, but I think SA has bounced back.
