At first listen, this is fairly boring. Maybe it's a grower.

Yeah, I really wanted to like this tune, but it's all over the place. Everything seems discordant.

Serenity definitely stands out more, but after listening to this a few times, I like it better than Serenity. It is definitely a grower for me, and a little more unique and less predictable than Serenity is. I know we shouldn't say nice things about videos when they are related to Journey, but I actually think Deen looks as sharp as he sounds on this one. Sort of like a front man. I can't imagine how he can sing that good, and also play drums. Amazing talent!

Agreed. While it IS a grower - Serenity is definitely more appealing to me.

I'm finally coming around on Deen as a vocalist. I think my hesitation's been his interpretation of Perry on classic Journey.
But hearing him on a track all his own has me hooked. The dude's got chops.

the song's pretty good too.

I can't tell if the video is supposed to be a play on bad videos from the 80's or what the heck is going on. Song is okay. I think the only thing that keeps it together is Deen's vocals, which are great.

Song is decent, thanks for posting it. Deen sounds great on the tune. It has a lot of Back Talk and Troubled Child in it as mentioned.

I find it funny Neal complained Perry's solo work sounded too much like Journey and his solo work was something totally different. And now we have Neal's solo work sounding a LOT like Journey, maybe better. Pot meet Kettle.

funny how that worked out... lmao...

Also funny how Perry... was also a drummer.. it's almost like everything coming full circle..

Song isn't very catchy... seems a bit indulgent... but then all of Neals solo work is that way..

I personally love the song. Once again.... this is why Deen should be the singer of Journey. It is a little obscure, but is still a great tune and to me and it showcases how awesome he could sound on a new Journey album! The video... ehhhhhhh! !!! Were they trying to sell roses on QVC or something?

I like Deen's drumming just fine, but he is even greater as a singer, in my opinion. I think he should follow in the footsteps of Don Henley, Phil Collins, and yes, even Steve Perry, and step out from behind the kit and use that voice of his. As good a drummer as he is, there are plenty just as good or even better. Far fewer singers can sing as good as that.

Half the time I have no idea where ur coming from when you post. Saying that u are finally coming around to Deen singing is like saying that you are developing a palate for ice cream or french fries or pussy. Hearing a great singer is not an acquired taste.

Yeah...this one is kind of boring... no hooks. Serenity was uptempo and catchy.

Put simply, I'd never agreed with the chorus on folks on this board clamoring for more Deen-led songs in a Journey set. Yes, he can sing and sing well. But let's face it ... when we listen to Journey play live today, we're all still hearing Perry in our heads. And the singers that have followed him ... well, we've either felt they cut the mustard or they didn't. That said, I wasn't hearing Deen's interpretation of "Mother Father" and thinking to myself, "yeah man. Let's scrap Arnel." So-- this new, fresh track "LFAW" gave me a deeper appreciation of his vocal ability. That's all. Clear it up a little for you, NC?

The whole cd is kinda so so, just finished scanning thru it , only 3 Dean songs and 2 instrumentals on a nine song cd. Serenity , and love finds a way are the only 2 that I think I would give a second listen (love finds a way more so because the obvious homage to troubled child, but the chorus is weak) just doesn't have the punch I expected.

I respect your opinion, Family Man. However on the Manilla DVD I think Deen's songs do blow away Arnel's chopsocky renditions. Quick story... I remember hearing Deen sing for the 1st time in 2004. As soon as his rendition of Suzanne concluded, the concert goer in front of me pointed to SA standing by the side lines of the stage and commented "I think that guy's days are numbered." And he was right.

yup, very Troubled Child, but it never grabs me.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

What would be cool... is a night of Steve Smith on drums, and Deen out front on vocals. A guy singing behind the drums always looks goofy to me.

A night my ass! Full-time!! That's what I posted in my "Journey for the love of GOD" thread. Never happen, but to have Smith's chops and Deens vocals... DAMN that would rock! :D

Absolutely. Always loved that track, so I appreciate revisiting it. I am pleasantly surprised by a lot of what I have heard off So U so far.

Glad to see Deen doesn't look like a drag queen anymore.

Awful video. A high school film student could do better.

Not much of a tune. Sounds like a Generations reject.

I think it sounds good too, so far. I think Love finds a way is a real grower. I had it stuck in my head for days after looping it a few times. It is not a typical love song, and I like that it has this haunting, uneasy feel to it.
