They sound pretty good! He's no Perry clone, and I don't hear any Chalfant in his voice. I really dig their "I'll Be Alright Without You". Really good version, and better than any other tribute band I've heard...

This guy is awesome. Shocked actually.

I don't know who the dude is but I agree with Jim, he doesn't sound like Chalfant or anyone else. What I can say, I got goose bumps when I heard him. That does not happen too often!

The big dude kicks arse! The dude has juice.

Not only does the vocalist give goose bumps, the whole band is really good. The guitarist doesn't play exactly like Neal, but does the songs justice and with his own flair. The base player is a good bg vocalist, and not only does the band play more Journey tunes than Journey, but they obviously feel what they are doing and have a lot of respect for the Journey sound and music. They kind of got me choked up a couple of times just because of how good and how genuine their performances are. In an other era, a singer like that could be huge. He doesn't sound exactly like Perry, because he is a bit edgier, and has a little different tone, but he is definitely in same class and league as Perry, in my opinion, as a singer.

Okay, listening to the bands catalog of videos. This lead singer is fucking blowing me away. Whole band sounds TIGHT.

Don't hear crowd noise on any of these clips. Done in the studio perhaps? These vocals don't sound live to me. I could be wrong tho..

I just watched briefly and at the 41ish mark he chuckles. Not to say that could not be planned or the vocals weren't done later to mimic his timing on stage. But good question on this.

The band is amazing! I personally think the other singer sounds better even though he doesn't look the part. To me, this guys voice is a little thinner with very week vibrato. I definitely hear a lot more soul and authenticity in the other guys voice. I'd love to check out a show with this band though, they sound great!

Dude, thanks for posting that and wow. I like to think I have pretty good ear when it comes to singers and I'm not sure I could tell the difference between this dude and an 81-83 Perry. The band is tight as well. Very nice, I'd pay to see them.

Note to Resurrection, you'll be getting sued soon. By sounding more like Journey than they do, you'll be getting sued for the Perry and Cain references in the look a like contests.

Come within a couple of hours and I'll be there.

I do too...agreed again by far but the Resurrection dude is still really, REALLY good. That other dude has more power and a more soulful voice overall.

That's the same quote I got from a friend who seen it. "When did Meatloaf starting singing Journey?" Made me laugh.

Honestly I'm no fan of the Resurrection guy over the Revelation guy or whatever. I don't know either one of them and never heard either one of them except for a few minutes of these YT vids.

Once certain singers pass basic points with me (can they sing in tune? do they have power and understand dynamics? are they smart enough to back off the stuff they shouldn't be going for?) they are all kind of in the same boat. None of these guys (Augeri, Pineda, Chalfant, Hugo, other tribute band singers) ARE Steve Perry, so if they can cover the material and not look like tools while they do it, that's generally good enough for me. I don't listen to this stuff for fun anyway.

What I wanted to bring people attention to wasn't so much the singer as the band - being made up of Nashville pros and people like Journey's ex-drum tech or an ex-writing partner of Steve Perry. All those guys together in that band makes for one hell of a "band." Now whether or not these pros realize that a Journey tribute band doesn't necessarily get the same "treatment" as, say, Toby Keith's band when they're on the road will determine how long they stick around on the scene.

Yep, that band is damn good. He's a good singer also. Their keyboard player should be replaced by someone I know.
