BRISTOL – It seems some Bristol residents are confused about which “Steve” will perform at Muzzy Field.
Well it’s Steve Augeri, he may be best known more for his time in Journey as he replaced icon singer Steve Perry. But some tend to forget he also fronted Tall Stories, a band from New York City as well as a brief stint with Tyketto, another outfit who were popular in the 90s.
Journey replaced Perry with Steve Augeri in 1998, but fired him in 2006 for chronic throat infection. Augeri was succeeded by Jeff Scott Soto. He lasted less than a year. Eventually, the band settled on Filipino singer Arnel Pineda (above right), whom guitarist Neal Schon discovered singing covers of Journey songs on YouTube. The new version of Journey has released two albums, although the members are wisely keeping one foot planted in their lucrative past. A greatest hits collection curated by Steve Perry is due in November. —Jeff Royer
Regardless of what “Steve” you thought it was the night will definitely deliver on what its billing.
Recently Augeri said “It’s great to get out across the states and play with my “gang”, The Steve Augeri Band and reconnect with the fans that I made acquaintances throughout the years with Tall Stories, Tyketto and last but not least, of course Journey. We’ve got a lot more ground to cover and 2014 will be the year we’ll get out to the cities we’ve missed. We’ll be hitting the road in about a months time and coming to a Rock Show near you! “
