They played "She's a Mystery", "Ritual" and "Dead or Alive" (instead of Tantra, Never Walk Away and La Do Da).
Good crowd.....with a series of T-storms running through.
Probably the worst GH crowd yet. If it wasn't a hit for Miller or Journey.....sit down or piss.

There's alot of projection going on in this thread. I don't think Neal is angry at all. Actually, the only thing Perry did is settle the question as to why he is no longer singing high tenor, ball tearing, songs in the band Journey anymore. After the Eels performances, the endless demands for him to return to the band will likely now stop.

It was one of those early morning going across the bridge things when the sun was coming up and the lights were going down. It was perfect."

Why even bring up the LA origin when the song is clearly about SF? Not to mention the fact that on an official live release (Captured) you told the world: "We wrote a song about our home town San Francisco. It's called Lights."
The band had not relocated to LA at that time. Not sure where Flans got that from.

The Perry quote was his words from the Joe Benson show's website (sorry if I made it look like that was the quote from the book). I don't have Robyn Flan's book in front of me at the moment, so I don't recall what was written word for word. But I remember finding the info interesting about the song originally being written as an LA song when I read her book well over 20 years ago. She is a good writer who had an 'in' with the band at the time...she worked very closely with Steve Smith when she wrote for Modern Drummer.
Regardless, Perry's not changing the meaning of the song. We all know that it's about The Bay area. Perry was just giving a little bit of fun history behind the song is all.

He can't find it within himself to make positive, supporting, congratulatory statements about SP's return to the stage (really...has he even said two words about SP's performances?), so he acts like a spoiled child and makes public "jabs" at Perry as if what SP said about LA was somehow inaccurate and damaging to the current band masquerading as "Journey".
What a jerk. Great guitar player...LOUSY human being!
Tomulator wrote:IMO, what SHOULD have happened, is that the "band" (or better yet, just Ross, Cain and Schon) should have released an immediate statement congratulating SP and wishing him the best...similar to what Perry himself did for "Journey" (cough cough) a few years back when they first hired AP and were on the talk show circuit milking it for all it was worth! SMFP coming back like he did was a BIG DEAL.
Tell me where/how I'm wrong...

You're not.
IMO, Neal is still bitter,

Actually, you are BOTH wrong. Perry only released a statement when contacted by Oprah. What was he supposed to say? Fuck off? To Oprah? The Queen of daytime talk? Yea, that's a good shart-inducing laugh. I know it's hard for you guys, but let's try to stick to reality, please.

Now THAT would be worthy of a hight ticket price to see!!! Really, this is all probably just Neal's showmanship way of acknowledging that he saw Steve's video...I doubt any harm was meant. Who of us really know how these guys would/could break eachothers chops in the past? For all we know, Perry could be laughing at all of this.

I think it's kind of funny some are arguing about this comment based on nothing more than the few words quoted above. Other than the poster, NOBODY heard "how" Neal said it. We didn't hear any context whatsoever as to how it was said, or lead in. Is there video, so a FAR more educated conclusion or, more accurately, a presumption/assumption (which is all it is at this point) could be made as to Neal's intentions as to why he said it or how he said it? Nope. But "Here We Are", arguing, .. some even condemning, or criticizing Neal as "bitter" from just these few words typed out by a poster who was there. No context whatsoever. Not even an actual quote, just a mention as to how Neal intro'd Lights. Shame on some of you.

I'm a NYC gal, and I could care less if Lights was about San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Upper Sandusky. Would think that most fans that are not Bay area folks feel about the same. Oh well, maybe it's just his way of letting Perry know he did watch the videos.
