Yup, Journey's washed up. They should just quit.

^ The full Otawa Bluesfest show. Good quality. Pretty funny that Neal plays the SSB in a Canadian city.

LOL, you got that right. The fact of the matter is, Journey hasn't proven such a magnitude of success like this since Perry was fronting the band during the hay day of the 80's. From day one when AP joined the band, I give credit where credit is due, the decision makers in this band made the right decision in November/December of '07.

Journey didn't draw that on their own.

"These shows form part of the 2014 Festival d’Éte de Québec.
This years artists include: Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, The Killers, Sound Garden, Marillion, Steve Miller Band, Journey, Blondie, Billy Joel, and Bryan Adams.
10 days of music shows in 10 venues around Quebec City.
1,000 artists and 300 showsall for the price of one festival pass for around $70."

By the way that's a hell of a deal for all those artists. Yes a lot of people who paid very little to see some major big name acts also came to see Journey as well, but to act like they drew 70,000 on a normal gig with Steve Miller is deceiving.

But 70k (article actually says it was 80k now) didn't need to show up THAT night for Journey.

Journey played on July 6th. The lineup for that night was: Matthew Curry (never heard of), Steve Miller, and Journey as the headliner. I would say the majority of the crowd on that particular night were there for Journey, which is pretty impressive.

No they didn't need to but they virtually got in for free. They paid (barely) for an entire festival. It's still cool, just deceiving.

Huge crowds at this festival are nothing new:

"The festival reached the million spectators mark for the first time in 2007 and sold-out (150 000 passes) for the first time in 2010, a feat it repeated every year since then."

Headliners

2008: Linkin Park, Van Halen, NOFX, Stone Temple Pilots, Primus.

2009: Kiss, Sting, Styx, Sean Paul.

2010: Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Billy Talent, Rush, The Black Eyed Peas, Santana, Arcade Fire.

2011: Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Elton John, Dropkick Murphys, John Fogerty, Hollywood undead, Ben Harper, The Black Keys, Simple Plan.

2012: Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Skrillex, Lionel Richie, LMFAO, The Offspring, City and Colour, Our Lady Peace, Sarah McLachlan.

2013: Wu-Tang Clan, The Black Keys, Bruno Mars, Weezer, Rush, Tiesto, Guns N' Roses, Stevie Wonder, Def Leppard.

2014: Lady Gaga, Billy Joel, The Killers, Bryan Adams, Soundgarden, Journey, Snoop Dogg, Queens Of The Stone Age, Cypress Hill.

Wonder if Deb made it to the festival.
Don't get me wrong, I think Arnel is doing a heck of a job. In the videos, he and the Canadian crowd seemed to be really hitting it off. But it being a music festival, the crowd was already high and in a frenzy and whoever was fronting the band, would have gotten the same adultation...JSS ... or Jeremey, even, if he had made it into the band.

How do you confirm what would have happened when it never happened in the first place? Sort of like the "if" question, if your sister would have been born with a set of balls, she would have been just as good of quarterback as say Joe Montana? Capisce?

I'd probably agree that the crowd would be stoked either way, but you seem to think that the intensity would be the same and there's no reason to think that.

What a stupid analogy to throw out to me... my sister ...no relevance to discussion at all. Is this not a board and topic where people just jot down what they think? You don't like/agree with me ... fine ... post your counterpoint ... leave the condescending attitude home! "Capisce?!" Who you think you're talking to?

I said there's no reason to think that, not that you couldn't. Loons aren't known for their grasp of reason... or the English language, apparently.

They didn't. They already had tickets. They're there to drink and have a good time and enjoy live music. It's a festival. It's delusional to think Journey will draw 70-80,000 people on their own. This is 2014, not 1984. Canadians use any excuse to get out in the summer because that's the time of year the cold won't freeze their nips and noses off.

Don't listen to this asshole, Annie. I can't stand his ass, either. Hey, JBlake, I'm going to caution you to post with respect. People like Annie and myself have been here a long time, and do not like newbies, like yourself, being disrespectful to anyone, let alone the good people that have been here so long. Not cool.

So point out where I was being disrespectful Rick. All I was doing is using a stupid analogy (according to her) to compare it to her stupid analogy. Matter of fact your the one calling names here. You call me an asshole. Hey that's all fine and dandy with me, just don't get you panties all waded up in a knot then if I respond by calling you the same. By the way Samsonite Luggage Monkey...isn't there some luggage you need to be humping into a planes or are ya off the clock? Oh yeah, thanks for being a dickhead about it by starting the name calling . And thanks for letting me know you can't stand me. Guess the fuck what? I don't care. Now if you were someone important I might have.

See now look what you made me do Rick. You just pissed me all off ( and i don't like being pissed off at someone I'm unable to get my hands on) when we could have had here is a nice dialog with resolve over a few laughs and no name calling.

What???? After seeing the yt link, I made a comment (my opinion) that the big crowd was high on the festivities ...which may be a factor in their outward display of adulation for the band, especially toward AP as he is out front working the crowd (not a knock..Arnel is good at this..., working the crowd).

The only stupid analogy made in this thread is by you, re my sister. And I do have a sister, 2 of them, btw.

And how do you know Rick works at an airport???? Something tells me you're not such a newbie.
But, whether you are or not, why be such a jerk toward everyone?

Back from weekend trip home. One more week here on business and I'll be home for good.

Anyways, the issue here Annie is simple, when you first posted that "such and such" would have generated the same exact outcome, you really didn't craft the post as saying this is simply your "opinion". It was geared more towards a fact rather than an opinion. But most importantly, doing so discredited the current frontman from doing anything out of the ordinary. What you're saying in that post is, Arnel's performance was nothing special because "so and so" would have generated the same reaction. You see where I'm coming with this? And as you now know, I get highly irritated with "if" scenarios, scenarios based solely upon things that never happened. I think it's completely ridiculous. Now if lets hypothetically say that one of the "so and so's" that you mentioned does happen to front the band at some later point in history, then we can look at it and come to a reasonable discussion comparing the reaction of the audience.

LMAO .... so everybody that ever makes a comment ON A MESSAGEBOARD is supposed to say "in my opinion" ... haha, you have bigger problems than I thought if you can't tell the difference.

No, I think the issue is you want to come on here and make a splash ... to insult and get someone like me riled up. But, that's cool ... to each his own.

Why would I want to rile you up, I don't even know you. I'm just comparing one analogy to another.
