Listening to Neal's new solo CD and even though I knew what his vocals are like just cant believe Deen Castronovo isnt/wont put out a solo CD. Has anyone seen an interview with him asking him IF he will or Why he hasnt.

Sounds like he will at least be working with Blades on a different project.

Thats cool.

I think the more he does to highlight his vocals the more exposure, and maybe the more demand for a solo CD in the future.

He doesn't need a solo cd. He should sing a minimum of 2-3 songs on every Journey cd. "Never Too Late" and "A Better Life" are both fantastic on Generations.

I could go for a whole album of this, though:

Are you saying he doesnt need a solo CD, because he has said that? Or thats what you believe? If so why wouldnt you like to see a solo CD from him?

I'm saying, in a roundabout way, that Journey hasn't utilized him to the extent that he could be. Deen & Augeri, Arnel & Deen, Arnel & Deen & Cain - any numbers of these combos could've ushered in a modern Rolie/Perry-type golden age of shared vocals.

Totally agree. Still, for die hard Journey fans I think most including myself wouldnt mind seeing a solo CD by Deen. I dont think it would be a real big seller though.

Yeh, I don't know if it was mentioned here on MR, but Blades said they are working on a Deen cd. Deen's got a great voice, and he already works with two great writers (Schon/Cain) on a full-time basis. They should be giving him songs to sing. Herbie was saying this as far back as the Castles Burning interview.

AMAZING freaking line-up! I have a feeling I'm going to like this MUCH better than Journey's last 3 albums combined.

Deen should be the voice of Journey, and this will be the next best thing. Can't wait!!!

His amazing vocals are now paired with the best song writer, showman, and musician of the current time. If the guitar player is a decent rhythm player they will be awesome. Journey should be concerned because this project has the ability to out Journey Journey by a good margin.

Are you referring to Doug Aldrich? He is a great LEAD guitarist who played with Dio and Whitesnake. To guesstimate he may be a "decent rhythm player" is to grossly devalue his proficiency as a guitar player.

Agreed! He's one of the best guitarists on the planet! When he toured with WS and Reb Beach was relegated to playing rhythm, that should tell you something right there. Lol!!

Much prefer Reb as a player, but every body has their own tastes. Doug is an excellent player, but he seems a bit one dimensional to me. However, I say this only having had limited experience with his body of work. Dio live DVD and a few WS releases. Don't get me wrong though, he is good at what he does.
