Soooooo.....

Neal and Arnel are guesting on this new Revolution Saints project with Deen.
Neal and Deen did "SO U" earlier in the year
Neal has another solo album - Vortex - coming out.
Neal is doing the Santana thing.

It's not hard to see who is holding Journey back from being creative.

Yeah, that damn Neal Schon.

Just kidding. Yes, it's Cain who is causing Journey to be near death now. I'm a huge fan of Jonathan. But if he's going to keep holding them back, then they should try to bring back Rolie and record a new album, and then cut way back on the Dirty Dozen on tour. I think most of us don't want another album full of ballads, and that most of us could do without hearing Faithfully for the one millionth time in concert.

The band is the equivalent of a brain dead hospital patient who was in a car wreck and that's been on a ventilator and tube feeding for years. Cain seems to be the only one with the sense to maybe pull the plug already. While Neil want to continue living in it's house and collecting it's social security for as long as he can, after being behind the wheel of the Mitsubishi Eclipse when it hit the brick wall.

That's funny, because Eclipse certainly fared better commercially than Generations or Red 13. Not sure why sales numbers are used to justify this band's existence. If so, they should have dissolved as soon as 'Arrival' tanked, similar to the Ray Wilson Genesis lineup after "Calling All Stations" bombed. I think all things considered, Journey is doing pretty good. Revelation and Eclipse are both strong albums.

Cain is obviously bored. However, he has expressed his doubts about recording new Journey music for years now. Maybe Frontiers can just throw wads of cash at Cain and get him motivated again.

Revelation was really good. The topic was Cain's apparent disinterest in the recording anything new with the band. It's probably a direct result of Neil demanding to be behind the wheel and forcing Cain to sit in the booster seat in back.

P.S. For anyone interested Neil appeared on the show I DVR every week called "Chasing Classic Cars" on Velocity channel. The episode was called, "Stars & Their Cars"

JC wrote 100% of Eclipse's lyrics. The keys/synths may take a backseat, but they are still there. Cain should stop whining.

Neil Young? Neal Schon's name is spelled Neal. It's the name his parents gave him....his God given name. It's really time for you to grow up and stop being an asshole. I know you misspell his name on purpose, but seriously, DUDE!!!!

Any thoughts on initial track? I like it - need to give it a few more listens, but has promise for the album. Sounds like a straight ahead rocker, with that soaring journey'esque chorus, similar to what we heard from the Arrival Journey era -

A friend of mine said it was 'too boring' of a song although 'well executed'...I dunno..sometimes you need to rock...and they do here.

As I listened, I kept thinking this would have been a great Journey tune. Deen sounds great here. I like hearing him outside the obvious confines of Journey/Perry catalog. But could this video be any less imaginative? Looks like it was made for $1.99. And furthermore, rockers of a certain generation shouldn't really appear in music videos anymore. They just look silly. I mean, Blades looks absurd with those obnoxious hand motions. If marketing insists on a video, go the Pink Floyd route and spend some time on a creative concept.

Continuing in the line of other Frontiers sponsored vids...yeah, something artsy would be cool - if they HAVE to show the band, maybe more black and white / distorted snippits of the band playing would have been cool...Not quite as bad as the recent Neal Schon solo vids but close enough

I've thought for a long time that Frontiers Records could dramatically improve the quality of the video by partnering with a film school to get students to come up with a concept. Instead, they keep trying for the latest editing trick---this one is making a video in 4:3, which is now an obsolete format. I'm struggling at the moment to actually think of one video that they have done that actually works.

Not sold on the song either. Sounds like just going through the motions to me. Maybe some of the other songs are better....

I have often thought the same thing about videos: go to film students.

In college, while I studied radio/broadcasting, I knew MANY, TOP-NOTCH film students.

SImply, the students want...if not NEED, projects for grades & exposure. Bands need a cheap options. So, find a truly gifted student or 2, and let them go the distance. The passion will be immense & if they are paid, I'm sure it would be no more than the standard, if not less.

It's a win/win for all. The band gets a quality video & the students get something high profile to their credit.

Itune clips sound good. I'm hearing a Mother, Father influence in the last track. Like many Frontiers projects, where the songs are already written (Shadows Fall, Kimball/Jamison), there is a slightly by-the-numbers feel to some tracks, including 'Turn Back Time'. I'm optimistic that the band (Blades mainly) had a more direct role in some of the material. Def. a purchase for me. Unless Andrew says it totally blows (which is unlikely).

Lol. Between this project, and recent Night Ranger, I think Blades is in more of these bargain basement cheapie videos than anybody. I'll give him this tho, he seems to be genuinely enjoying himself and seems to be in on the joke.

While I certainly hear the cliches, etc in "Turn Back Time", I still think it's a killer tune. If anything, it's a TOTAL throwback to a musical era & sound that we love. (Hell, this place is FOUNDED on that stuff.) Even if it's a little cheesy, we'd be lying if we said the 80s didn't have plenty of that.

HOWEVER, after hearing the 1:30 min, iTunes samples, I am certain that there will be even BETTER songs. Back Of My Trail, Locked Out Of Paradise, Strangers To This Life & How To Mend A Broken Heart sound EPIC!

My only real worry is that Jack Blades will be virtually unnoticeable. So far it sounds like the Deen Castronovo project, featuring Doug Aldrich. That's not a bad idea, at all...except when Jack "Freakin'" Blades is involved!

The soundbytes really didn't grab me. Can't put my finger on it, but there just wasn't anything that jumped out at me that I can't wait to hear in long form. Reserving judgement though. Could just be my high expectations. Castronovo sounds good on vocals.

Gotta say the song didn't bowl me over, but I enjoy it anyway. I am looking forward to this album.

I agree that Jack seems a little "backseat". Still, having fun. Good call, TNC that Jack's in on the joke.

The video is definitely very cheap. Simply something to put out on YouTube, the preferred listening service these days. But a dramatic lyric video may have better served the material than this....

I like the film school student idea. Similar to how Journey used fan art for CD covers....

I does bug me, thought, that Joe Perry's "Run Rudolph Run" video, in conjunction with his 4 song, Christmas EP, looks SO MUCH MORE professional than this thing.

It's not even an Aerosmith project or anything major, and he has a fantastic video.
