Yeah, he's (still) in very good form. Arnel must be one of those singers that age doesn't diminish ... or just knows how to take care of himself.
I detect a little raspiness in certain areas, but could be intentional ... not a bad thing ... actually adds to the vocal interpretation, to me.
Now, the trick is to hear him sing the Journey songs in concert again. I mean, the hardcore fans are so used to how the hits are (should be) sung, anything deviating ... we're going to critique on these pages. That's what fan boards do.

This would have been a good Journey ballad. Any info on who wrote it?

Has to be Arnel, or someone without good grammar and English skills, "Oh, the more we're closer..." It's probably not written for an American audience tho.

If Jonathan could have cleaned it up, it could have been a good song...all of the spiritual overtones cause me to think it's an Eclipse reject...Neal would have definitely vetoed this with things like Tantra already on it.

AP wrote it. All his. And, folks, this was not the final cut. He has an album coming out with proper sound engineering. Wouldn't be so fast to bash it just yet. Wait for the finished product, then judge.

Catchy chorus. I'm impressed. Yes, the lyrics are a mess, but have you actually read any of Journey's lyrics lately?
