Sounds a little ballad-heavy, but otherwise def. worth a purchase.

It's a great review. I really like this project, but I am a disappointed the band didn't write the album. Because of this, there is a sense of illegitimacy to the band, IMO. I don't think the songs are terrible, they are pretty generic at times though. All this said, they are expertly performed and I could listen to Deen sing and play all day long. Doug and Jack are great too. Let's get them writing together as a band! I did pre order the CD and am excited to get it. Definitely a guilty pleasure!

Wow this band has all this songwriting talent and didn't write for the album ?!!!! Incredible . Yea that is disappointing.

Frontiers seems to commission a lot of these projects, like that Bobby Kimball thing and those couple LP's Fergie Frederiksen did before he died. It is really weird, especially in rock music. If it was country, no one would blink an eye, I suppose.

But Deen has mentioned the idea of them getting together down the road to write a 2nd disc. And didn't they help with some songs?

Yah, it seems the artists get sent a bunch of demos and choose which ones they like best. In most cases, the artists record their parts separately.

Well well, another one hit's the web. What do you think? Deen is a vocal freak and shows it on this one too.

I love Deen's vocals in this song. It reminds me, somewhat, of the James Bond theme "Skyfall".

Try downloading it to the Amazon Music app. All the tracks downloaded perfectly to mine. If you like Journey, I can't imagine someone NOT liking this CD. It's very 80's, but unapologetically so, a bit formulaic, but kick ass stuff! I like it!

I always had very little hope of finding this in retail stores. Then again, you never know with Frontiers. Currently, I see the new Sweet & Lynch cd in various Best Buys everywhere. Anyway, I couldn't find Rev Saints in any Walmarts or Best Buys today.

Go to Amazon you lazy fuck. I could burn a copy and send it to you too. You're not gonna find fine music in BB or WM anymore.
I'll share, if you have no other way to get it. ;)

Gave it a listen last night. Very good debut album. Would have preferred if the band itself wrote the songs, but enjoyed the listen nonetheless. For some reason, it reminded me of the Arrival album. Great vocals and solid band play, but still felt like the song writing lacked a bit of depth. Deen's voice ranged from soaring to edgy and gruff (a good thing). He shines from start to finish.

Heard 6 or 7 of the tracks. As much as I like Jack Blades and Deen, this is horribly disappointing AOR by the numbers type stuff that's become way too commonplace in the Frontiers era. Not bad per se, but just ridiculously formulaic. It leaves me cold.

LOL. Steveo777, going to Amazon IS the lazy route. I always like driving to a brick and mortar store to pick up a new release. Foreigner's newly re-recorded 4 cd (which sucks) is widely available at FYE and Walmart etc. I def appreciate the other tho! I realize this is one I will have to pick up online.

Did they re-record 4 with Kelly Hanson singing?

live version of 4 with Hanson
This live album, recorded in October 2014 at the Borgata Hotel’s Music Box Theatre in Atlantic City, consists of seven songs first heard on Foreigner’s bestselling 1981 studio album 4 and five additional hits from their career. 4 featured the singles “Urgent,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You," and “Jukebox Hero,” presented here as the epic encore. Partner those tracks with strong versions of the early hits “Feels Like the First Time,” “Cold as Ice,” and “Hot Blooded” and the ‘80s classics “I Want to Know What Love Is” and “Say You Will,” and this album serves as a satisfying in-concert greatest-hits collection.

I found Revolution Saints at my local indie record store a few days back. I listened the cd once and at first listen nothing really jumped out at me which was a bit of a disappointment. I had high hopes for this cd because of the talent involved. I wish they would've written their own material, but they didn't. I'm hoping the album is a grower.

I'm shocked, shocked. Revolution Saints just debuted at #20 on the top albums on Freegal!!!!! It's shocking because the other albums/songs on the chart are Kelly Clarkson, J. Cole, Jason Aldean, Meghan Trainor, Sia, Ricky Martin, Hozier, Pitbull, Glee, Empire Cast, Jazmine Sullivan, etc. And I've NEVER seen a Frontiers label mate on the top chart. Journey's been there plenty. But basically no other melodic pop rock (not every major record company is on Freegal).

I have to say though after having listened to almost all the samples- is it me or does every song sound the same?

http://www.freegalmusic.com/

Again, how many downloads constitue a hit? It looks like Revolution Saints is a big hit.

I've listened to the cd several times now. The following are my thoughts

- Dean's vocals are really good
- The mix is lacking, the vocals need to be hotter
- Doug A is a hard rocking guitarist, I like it
- Blades is the best, his vocals and bass playing are stellar, he's way under rated
- Overall the cd sound a bit dated, like right out of the 80's, I'm not sure why
- Ratings wise I'd be at 84 given the vibe

Recommendations going forward:
- Turn Dean up in the mix
- Blades is the main song writer, mixer and producer. Jack is so under rated it's embarrassing
- Bring in Dean Cramer (Funny Money, Goodbye Thrill) on a second guitar for a more melodic feel on leads
- Bring Dean to the Mic and have Steve Smith set in on the drums while Dean is on the pipe. The dude is killer and deserves
to be able to focus on the Nuemann.
- Let Blades make the overall calls. If Perry, Schon, Gillis or Keagy are willing to participate get their input! Blades is the
final call.

Carry on :-)

Am I the only one who's disappointed that there are no ballads on this album? :( I wanted to hear Deen knock out an original song like "Faithfully" or "Still They Ride" all on his own.

I don't have the CD yet, but some have criticized it as being too ballad-heavy.

I am surprised there is no mention of Serafino considering he wrote, produced, and played keyboards on the album. It is pretty much his project with hired guns.

It's a good first attempt....several good songs.

Needs a few more ROCKIN tunes with just one more real 'open arms' like ballad would put this over the top for me.

Love Deen's signing.....wish I sounded like that LOL

I've heard it once. It's fine. Nothing earth shattering or anything I have to revisit anytime soon, but worth having.
