I've already stated how much I like to do random searches. The results are always a hoot. This one leaves me  .

Phillip Myers is a singer who organizes corporate concerts. He has all sorts of 80s rockers on his roster.

Journey Tribute with Kevin Chalfant

Journey is recognized as one of the most successful pop/rock bands of all time. The Philip Myers Band collaborates with special guest star Kevin Chalfant (who replaced Steve Perry as the lead singer in Journey) to create an evening of classic Journey and 80’s hits. Kevin, who won a Grammy Award for best live performance with Journey, fronts this non-stop performance of tunes made famous by the iconic 80’s band, interspersed with hits from timeless 80’s artists such as Van Halen, Toto, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Santana, KC & the Sunshine Band, Billy Joel, Queen, Hall and Oates, Survivor, Lionel Ritchie, Prince, U2, and many others.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Glee's DSB the only time Journey has been nominated for a Grammy post Perry. And "When You Love A Woman" was the only time with SP. Where is Phillip Myers getting his information? :x

The Regionals version of "Don't Stop Believin'" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for the ceremonies in 2011.[25] Following this nomination, the song was included on the compilation album 2011 Grammy Nominees.[26]

I don't even know where to begin with this.

How would Phillip Myers get the idea that Chalfant has a Grammy period, must less one with Journey. If Chalfant didn't let him believe it. Or didn't bother to correct him.

Anybody with an internet connection and the ability to do a search could find out the truth in a few minutes. The only Grammy Chalfant has is like the Oscar the director of the Lego Movie has- one he's made out of toys  .

Has Chalfant even been to a Grammy ceremony?

Confusing Bammie performance with Journey with Grammy Award FOR performance with Journey???

Good call Jrnyman28. That said Journey was never nominated for a best live performance with the Bammy Awards. The Storm won a Bammy for Outstanding Debut Album in 1991. Sounds like someone may have "conflated" the two.

No, he's been hanging out with Kevin Chalfant  .

The only problem with this theory is that Chalfant didn't peform at the Bammies with Journey. That was Michael Bolton. He performed at the Herbie Herbert Roast. Now, I can totally see Phillip Myers getting Bammies and Grammys confused  . But that was still with The Storm and NOT Journey.

And still Chalfant has NOTHING tangible that he can hold in his hands or point to as proof he was in Journey. Anything with an offical Journey logo and printed credits. He doesn't have a recording of himself at the Herbie Roast. Jeff Scott Soto has multiple fan videos of him performing at Journey concerts and press releases. He doesn't have any song writing credits on any Journey albums like Robert Fleischman. He co-wrote 1 (or more) song(s) with Gregg and Neal. But outside of those in the know- who's heard of them? He hasn't been able to parlay his career into multiple arenas like Randy Jackson and can't claim close ties to Steve Perry. How is he able to go around claiming to be a former Journeyman (and getting gigs because of it) when he's not? :?

Who the heck are Stevie Roseman and Bob Glaub?

Bob Glaub played a couple songs on ROR, and Roseman played on Hopelessy in Love.
Still wonder what were they thinking to drop Ross/Smith on ROR. Jackson did well enough on tour but Mike BAird? Really?

KC says there was a period prior to TBF when he was in the band. If this is false, I'm sure the band is legally equipped to put a stop to it. I believe both Jeremey and Hugo, as Journey tribute guys, had separate run-ins with the band's Management.

FF, Neal seems pretty responsive on FB. Why don't you ask him? Or better yet, email Chalfant's label, Clique Records...KC usually answers the emails.

My run-ins with the band had to do with us securing permission to perform at EPCOT as Frontiers. Disney makes all tribute acts for their summer concert series acts obtain permission from the band to spell out how the name can be used to promote the shows, etc – lots of lawyers involved. In 2006, we had the chance to do this, and we were told Steve Perry's attorney did not grant permission for the performance. In 2011, after my brief history with the band, we went back again and were given a list of ultimatums from the band's lawyers, which included taking down our logo (which had nothing to do with Journey, it was a big star behind what appeared to be a big building – a stock image I purchased), because it was too iconically reminiscent of Journey and also deleting all of our videos from YouTube, as well as putting a disclaimer on our website that we were in no way associated or endorsed by the band Journey.

None of this had anything to do with my association with the band.

Also, just to add, I'm sure that both Kevin Chalfont and Hugo were victims of overzealous promoters who really pushed the envelope to see what they could get away with. I know Neal was particularly pissed about promoters using Hugo's image and putting "Steve Perry" and "Journey" in huge letters and his tribute band's name in itty bitty letters underneath that.

Most of the time when you see this, it's some podunk local promoter trying to overstate something in order to blow up the local show they've booked in hopes that they'll fly under the radar and the audience won't care enough to ask any questions.

Tea Party rally set for St. Charles Wednesday

4/14/2015

Mike Riopell

The Illinois Tea Party's biggest rally of the year is set for the Arcada Theater in downtown St. Charles Wednesday.

This is the second year in a row the group's annual tax-day rally has happened in the suburbs after it spent its first five years in Chicago.

The list of speakers includes radio host and former congressman Joe Walsh, radio host and former candidate for governor Dan Proft, College of DuPage Trustee Kathy Hamilton and 2014 candidate for Congress Larry Kaifesh, among others.

Chicago Tea Party leader Steven Tucker called the event the group's "annual revolt against taxes." He said the Tea Party hopes to capitalize on success in electing a slate of three candidates to the College of DuPage Board last week.

Doors open at 4 p.m. for the 5 p.m. event. Tickets cost $10 at the door, and Tucker said space is still available.

Entertainers include comedian Eric Golub and singer Kevin Chalfant, who stood in for Steve Perry as the lead singer of Journey.

Walsh has said he's weighing a Republican primary bid against U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk of Highland Park, but Tucker said Walsh won't likely be making an announcement about his plans until June.
