Pulling out old classics and sounding great. Not sure what you're listening to?

I was there on May 6th, 7 rows back, center left. It was a fantastic show with lots of energy. The band was on fire and so was AP. Disregard those crappy fan shot YT vids.....they don't do justice. The music is being played very loud, so it is going to sound distorted as hell from a phone recording. The place holds about 4500 peeps and it was packed the gills, including the upper balconies.

Got a good mix including:
Opened the Door
Where Did I lose your love
Wildest Dream

I saw them last night and I agree. They were on fire and AP's voice was amazing. For the passing fan, the set list was a little clunky in terms of keep momentum going, but it's not a pure hits show. Definitely a must see if they do another residency there.

Glad you could go, Tom. All rumors of Journey's demise have been grossly exaggerated. They have sold out every show there, so far, with no co-headliners. Thanks for posting your videos! For me the experience was well worth it. :)

Winds of March sounds good. Thanks for posting. Arnel's voice is sounding a little huskier on some of those notes. Reminds me of Perry circa ROR or Bolton on The Hunger.

Not to slight anyone who records this stuff, because it is appreciated, but are any of these recent shows available via 'bootleg' with better quality audio, or sound board mix? I know Deen's a good drummer, but his kit sounds horrible - I had same thought seeing the Manila concert which was professionally recorded. Just curious if there's more than Iphone movies available to get a better idea to their true live sound & what does the "being there" sound like - hopefully not like the overmodulated phone vids! Opened the Door sounds like he's hitting those tin-foil pie plates or a pizza pan instead of a splash cymbal, ughhh tough to hear compared to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-NkyYQB8zg

So, is it the mix, the bad phone vids, or does Journey just sound that bad these days? I hope it's just the phone recordings.

Opened the Door, wow, and Neal was fantastic on it. And Winds of March also amazing. How lucky you were. I'm jealous. Now I have to go back and pull out my Infinity album. Infinity and Departure are my favorites of theirs.

What was Neal playing as a segue into Wheel in the Sky? Also, any deep cuts from Departure?

Winds Of March is a brilliant song.
Wonder why it`s not played more often.
BTW John had a little bum note at 0.10 and the song was performed a half step down...but still kicked ass !!
GREAT SONG !

Let’s face it, Journey as a band, is way past its prime. So, I’m inclined to cut them some slack. Astonishing AP still has decent voice singing these songs (remember the predictions on this board of his demise back in 2011-12?). Is the voice perfect? Of course not. That’s live singing for ya … he has good and bad moments.

At least, people are getting all-real performances. And, from all the money these shows are pulling in, they’re still very popular. So, props to these guys for carrying on.

p.s. I'm giggling at Neal's all-black get-up ... headband and spandex pants?!? Rock n rollers never want to look their age, huh? :o

In general, I've never liked the way Deen's kit sounds... dating all the way back to Bad English. I've always preferred the "tight" sounding snare that Smitty would use. Deen's sounds loose like he's banging on locker doors in a high school hallway. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a kick-ass drummer. Just wish his kit had a tighter, cleaner sound. You drum techs out there could probably speak to what's happening technically.

I loved that! Neal and Arnel nailed it. It would have been nice If Jonathan had tried to emulate Gregg's keyboard part during Neal's solo, but I'm really glad to seem them play and give the respect that this song deserves. 8)
