Neal Schon has streamed all 18 tracks of solo album Vortex exclusively via TeamRock.


The Journey guitarist’s latest work is released on June 22 via Mascot Label Group.

Schon recently said: “This album is really me – all based on my guitar, which is my voice. There's an old blues saying, ‘If you’re thinkin’you’re stinkin.’ When you stop thinking and just play from the heart, you discover your voice. That’s the real thing, and that’s what Vortex is about for me.”

1.Miles Beyond - Could be a current Rock hit. If I still jogged....I'd jog to this
2.Awakening - Too bad this couldn't have been a song on a new Journey album
3.Cuban Fly Zone - La Raza minus the Latin and with an Eclipse vibe. Good stuff
4.El Matador - Not my thing but has some moments
5.Eternal Love - Sounds like a great song for a retrospective
6.In A Cloud - Little generic other than Schon here. Riff could have been a Journey ballad
7.Irish Cream - GOT-damn!
8.Lady M (Our Love Remains) - Definite Journey potential.
9.Airliner NS910 - Awesome (and again...lots of Journey feel).

1.Tortured Souls - Different...YET..familiar
2.Schon & Hammer Now - TASTY
3.NS Vortex - 2015's Summer Song!
4.Unspoken Faith - Soothing enough, but not up to rest of album's par.
5.Twilight † Spellbound - Epic in nature
6.Triumph Of Love - Sweeping
7.Mom - Sweet indeed
8.Talk To Me - WOW. Another with the Journey vibe.
9.White Light -Ok, but wouldn't have been my pick to end.

Eric, I completely agree with your assessment. For me, the weakest track is Tortured Souls because it starts a slow. But even it is still a good song once it gets going.

I can tell this one is going to live in my player for a long time once I get mine.

I've got mine, and I can't say enough about how great this album is. Adventurous, intense, creative, diverse, just a brilliant work of art.

Mine came in the mail today.
I already listened to disc 1 and am half way through disc 2.

I might post some thoughts on the album later.
