I know he's celebrating the man and not the guitar or the Gibson company, but it's kinda funny seeing a former prolific Les Paul guitar player pay homage to Les Paul the man on those ugly ass PRSs that were born out of Neal's ugly divorce with Gibson. El Matador sounds like a bunch of noise.

I have a feeling a lot of people will be arriving late for those concerts. It will be interesting to see how it is received by the fans.

Kind of agree that it would have made sense to play a Les Paul at the celebration and he did have a pretty decent custom one he could have dusted off. I thought El Matador sounded really good though.

He and Gibson had a nasty divorce over his signature model, so I doubt you'll see him playing an LP anytime soon.

Vortex - the song itself - could actually be a rock radio hit.

Back during the Arrival sessions (I think), he played at the Irridium and Les Paul actually gave him a guitar on stage. It'd have been nice to see NS playing it during this tribute. There was a pic floating around back then of this.

later~

I think for Neal to do his solo material justice in a live performance, he needs to share guitar duties. The songs are simply too rich and layered to translate very well live, in my opinion. I know Neal wouldn't like to share the stage that way but why not bring in Miles Schon? Could be good for Miles, the live set, and it is the Schon band so why not two Schons?
