Journey is a bad fit for what halftime shows have become. That's why we don't watch halftime shows with their dancing sharks and palm trees, wardrobe malfunctions, and lip-syncing. It seems obvious to me that half-time show audiences would not like a Journey performance, even if it had Perry.

With a guest band or artist, I think they fit right in with other performers from this century. Maybe another Rascal Flatts collaboration?

Yeah I think this year more than any other year would be their best shot ... but it would have made more sense in that 2008-2010 stretch where a lot of the classic rock guys were coming in.

Seems the recent trend is to skew younger, so unfortunately I think we'll be seeing Taylor Swift next year.

It would have made the most sense in 81 - 86 when they were at the top of their game and their music was on the radio. I don't think we are going to be seeing much rock and roll in the future whether classic or contemporary. Taylor Swift wouldn't surprise me at all, and, actually, they could do far worse than her. I don't like a lot of her music, but at least she keeps her clothes and her head on and commands respect while outselling everybody around. Compare that to tongue girl.

Bruno Mars has been offered Super Bowl 50 halftime show spot

For the Super Bowl’s golden anniversary, the NFL has asked a big name to return to the stage.

Bruno Mars has been offered the headliner spot for the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in Santa Clara, California, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

The pop star previously fronted the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show in 2014 with a guest appearance from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Before being usurped by Katy Perry’s turn at this year’s big game, Mars’ performance was the most-watched halftime show ever. This year, Mars’ profile rose even higher thanks to Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk,” on which the 29-year-old Hawaii native contributed vocals. (He also participated in a fake Twitter beef with Ed Sheeran.)

Reps for Mars and the NFL did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment. Super Bowl 50 will take place on Feb. 7, 2016. In the meantime, watch Mars’ 2014 Super Bowl halftime show performance below.

Really, again??? As if there are not enough bands out there to pick from. Time to bring back some of the classic legendary bands. What about AC DC, Eagles, Van Halen, Journey, Chicago, Fleetwood Mac..etc?? There are many bands at the top of the list of the all time best selling artists that have yet to perform at the Superbowl.

Heck i'll take the Stones again, over alot of the crap today.

IMHO ..... The Super Bowl should always have the current top artist who are in there prime.
Having Madonna in her mid fifties way past her heyday was senseless. would have made more
sense to get Lady GaGa (who can actually sing) Katy Perry, Beyonce, Bruno Mars were all very good
and sure I enjoyed Prince who is fabulous and Petty, But I think its better for the NFL to avoid
nostalgia acts....

What about Journey with Gregg Rolie? Then they could start with Black Magic Woman and Evil Ways, and then finish up with Any Way You Want It, Faithfully, and Don't Stop Believin'. It would be a classic halftime show.

METALLICA WILL HELP CELEBRATE SUPERBOWL 50 BY HEADLINING “THE NIGHT BEFORE” CONCERT

November 2, 2015
By Dana
http://eddietrunk.com/metallica-will-he ... e-concert/

Metallica will help celebrate Super Bowl 50 with a headlining set at CBS Radio’s third annual The Night Before concert.

As indicated by the name of the event, the show’s scheduled for Saturday, February 6th, 2016. Even though the Super Bowl will take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the concert will be located at AT&T Park in nearby San Francisco.

Metallica’s James Hetfield broke the news of the band’s performance during an appearance on San Francisco station KITS-FM; according to a press release, the show will also include an opening set from Cage the Elephant.

“How cool is this?” enthused Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich in a statement. “Super Bowl madness, AT&T Park and Metallica all coming together in one over-the-top hometown gig. We are of course beyond psyched and extremely honored to be flying the flag for not only Bay Area music, but for heavy music in general at CBS Radio’s The Night Before 2016 edition. Get your dancing shoes ready, ’cause this is going to be one next-level, uniquely crazy event!”

Metallica have made a habit of playing at AT&T Park in recent years by hosting an annual Metallica Night at San Francisco Giants games. Earlier this year, the band expanded that tradition, bringing Metallica Night into the South Bay for a San Jose Sharks hockey game.

“We could think of no band other than Metallica worthy of headlining such a major event in San Francisco as the city plays host to the Super Bowl,” added CBS Radio president Andre Fernandez. The Night Before has quickly become an anchor of our annual concert lineup, and we are ready to share the energy and excitement of the show with thousands of music and sports fans. It’s going to be one of the most memorable nights in San Francisco music history.”

Metallica Fan Club members will have early access to tickets via a special pre-sale through the band’s site, while a separate pre-sale for Citi cardmembers is set to begin November 4th. General ticket sales begin November 6th at 1PM ET through Ticketmaster.

that's because the 49ers have gone out of their way to make sure any network broadcasting makes the 9ers look like they are for all intents and purposes, STILL playing in San Francisco...

Santa Clara. Just outside Frisco. Doesn't bother me, but then I've watched the Angels change names many times, so I'm conditioned.

Actually if Journey did the superbowl half time, that would be the only part of the superbowl I'd watch. Seriously. I couldn't care less about the rest of it.

I'm a HUGE sports fan. But the NFL is totally rigged, and I'm sick of it. So is the NBA and MLB. I stupidly watch every Super Bowl and then wonder why I bother.
