The Dirty Dozen was based on the real life Filthy Thirteen of World War II. So, here's Journey's Filthy Thirteen, songs that should be included in every concert:
1. Lights
2. Wheel In The Sky
3. Feeling That Way
4. Anytime
5. Lov'n, Touchin', Squeezin'
6. Any Way You Want It
7. Don't Stop Believin'
8. Stone In Love
9. Who's Cryin' Now
10. Escape
11. Open Arms
12. Separate Ways
13. Faithfully

Pretty close to what the band always plays. Tho they seem to include BGTY also.

The idea behind the dirty dozen seems to be that it is their radio hits. But missing from that is:
After the fall
Suzanne
Girl Can't Help it
I'll be Alright Without You
When You Love a Woman
After all These Years
All of these received a lot of radio play in their time, technically qualifying them as Journey hits. Why don't they ever make the set list?

Suzanne is always overlooked. Deen and the band did a great job with it in 2004.

I agree with "Girl Cant Help It", "Ill Be Alright Without You", and "When You Love a Woman" . Its a bit mind boggling to me that "When You Love a Woman", a grammy nominated song that was their last top 20 hit is not including in the regular setlist. In my opinion this is one of their best written songs, especially of the ballads.
I think "Send Her My Love" should also stay as a regular on the dirty dozen setlist.

Yes, a genuine hit, the last hit with Perry, and a Grammy nomination should qualify it for more love from Journey. It also makes no sense to ignore After all These Years which is a genuine hit for the current lead singer and the only hit they have ever had without Perry. If they want to emerge from Perry's large shadow (although it is getting rather late for that) they really ought to play something they recorded with Arnel especially when they did have one hit with him. In fact, they should play a couple of Revelation songs because it sounds like legacy Journey and it was a successful album.

I always wonder why feeling that way and just the same way, two FM radio staples never get played. Augeri used to sing the partys over, miss that one two. Would be nice to hear some Greatest Hits V 2 songs.

How many frickin ballads do you guys want during a rock show??? They have to play Open Arms and Faithfully and now you wonder why they don't play WYLAW and After all these years? Too much. Especially when they're playing with other rock bands on the ticket.

The point isn't as much about what I want to hear as it is that the dirty dozen being the so called obligatory hits doesn't even make sense because it doesn't actually encapsulate all of their hits.

In what universe was "After All These Years" a radio hit?

Party's Over was played on one Augeri tour, as far as I remember. And the band dropped it midway through the tour. Feeling That Way and JTSW has been played by both the SA and AP lineups.

What are the odds Neal writes a brand new rocker and the band practices it in rehearsals to be played on the summer tour? It would be interesting if it really rocked and it was going to be on their next album. Something fresh and new at the concert would be highly welcomed along with the Dirty Dozen, Filthy Thirteen, or whatever you want to call it.
Also, with Arnel singing, they should do at least one of his era songs such as After All These Years, Change For the Better Or Edge of the Moment.

If Neal writes something like that, I wish for something heavy rather than a "rocker." Sometimes rockers penned by Neal for Journey are a bit cheesy and I prefer the heavy more blues style from him.

Yes. Journey needs a three-minute jam song. Get in. Get out. And nobody gets hurt. That would be a blast in concert.

They played that, World Gone Wild and "Good Time Tonight" in '99...and of course only 1/3 made it on Arrival....and barely.
Can't find (Have a) Good Time Tonight on YouTube anymore.

Was lucky enough to hear Good Time Tonight live. A bluesy song in the vein of Nothing Comes Close. World Gone Wild was played too. That song rocked live. The need to revisit it with Arnel.
I swear they played a new ballad as well, something like Saving Grace. Neal, or John seems to like that phrase.

Thanks for posting. Haven't heard in years. One of several unused Arrival-era rockers. Other leftovers ended up on Cain's solo albums, some on Mickey Thomas's solo album etc. Band should have recorded this (and others) on Generations.

Yes! Something like that! Neal took his band back from Steve Perry, but it seems he needs to take it back from Jonathan Cain now.
Neal needs to jam during concerts and be unapologetic about it.

Sorry. I know that this is off topic, but I didn't want to start a thread for it.
Several days ago I spotted Journey's Greatest Hits 2 at my local library. I've never bothered to buy it since I already have all of the songs that are on it. But since I know that it was remastered, and it's free to check out of the library, I went ahead and checked it out. So I had listened to it a few times in the last few days.
Earlier today at about 5:30 PM I decided to listen to the first track from the CD, which is Stone In Love. I listened to SIL and at the same time made a couple of posts here on MR at the same time. When SIL ended, I decided to eject the disc and to put something else on to listen to.
I hit eject, but the tray opened with the disc still stuck in the CD player. That had never happened in my 30 years of owning CD's. So I started unscrewing the screws that keep the outer shell of the player attached to the rest of the player. As I was unscrewing the outer shell of the player I could hear sirens. I didn't give it much thought, I figured that it was just an ambulance. A little while later a friend of mine called me to tell me that one of my neighbors that lives a few houses away from me had just shot himself to death right in his front yard.
Everyone in the area heard the gunshot except me. I think the man shot himself right during the 4 to 5 minutes that I was listening to SIL?
Anyway, the police were there and closed off the mans front yard with police crime-scene tape. And they covered his body with a white sheet. It took about 3 hours before they actually loaded the body into a truck and left.
I live in an incredibly safe neighborhood, it's a nice neighborhood too. The whole thing is kind of shocking.
Anyway, even though I have the outer shell of the CD player off, and I can see and touch the CD, it's still stuck in the player. The tray that you put the CD on will still open and close, but the disc is stuck inside. I can't see how to take apart any of the inner workings of the CD player without breaking it. Does anyone have any advice on how to get the disc out without breaking either the player or the CD?

Journey should do a special one-night-only concert in Vegas or somewhere and record it for a DVD/CD combo.
Journey Rock
1. Separate Ways
2. Stone In Love
3. One More
4. Edge Of The Moment
5. Edge Of The Blade
6. Lay It Down
7. Live And Breathe
8. Escape
9. Look Into The Future
10 Keep On Runnin'
11. Rubicon
12. Change For The Better
13. Dead Or Alive
14. Chain Reaction
15. Wheel In The Sky
16. Any Way You Want It

Yea, this is actually the first time I heard Deen cover it. But Arnel has and so did Augeri. Deen as usual proves he is the band's secret weapon. Huge loss.

In case anyone cares, I thought that I'd update my last post in this thread.
I found out that the man who shot and killed himself a few houses away from mine last week was 69 years old, and he had just been told that he had cancer. Thus the reason that he killed himself.
Also, I was able to get the CD out of the player without damaging either the disc or the player.
