Glad to see Augeri out there making a living. And as I've said here many times, I love the contribution he made to Journey. The band- and we as fans- owe him a lot. But "Legendary Voices of Rock"? He's humble, so I'm sure it wasn't his idea. Still..

Any link or reference? Not sure what you are talking about here.

My guess is this:
http://www.civictheatrenewcastle.com.au ... es-of-rock Steve Augeri (great guy) but legend?
Robby Steinhardt (who was really not known for his voice) but for me legendary as Kansas's violinist
and a cover band.

Family, I appreciate you contributing a thread to this otherwise dead forum. But let's get real. Steve Augeri is not in charge of the branding or the marketing of these package deals. Steve A. would probably be the first person to admit that Perry is a legend and he was just a very lucky replacement.
I'm sure some shrewd concert promoter has already thought up a "Voices of Journey" package - featuring the likes of Chalfant, Augeri, Jeremy, Hugo, JSS, Fleischman and of course, Andy Avery!

That would get me to a show, all of the together on stage.

Some shameless promoting of a show here. Augeri wasn't the lead singer of iconic 80's rock band Journey. He was the 00's replacement singer of the past its prime legacy act Journey. Talk about overreaching and misleading an audience. I am pretty sure Augeri is not responsible for this.

But I'm not even sure what the shrewdness is here. Is he trying to hoodwink the prospective audience into thinking it's Steve Perry? Anyone who would even entertain the idea of a show like this knows the deal by now.

Who is to say what a legend is and what a legend isn't? On previous tours, Augeri has shared a bill with everybody from Fergie to Paul Rodgers to Bill Champlin to Bobby Kimball. All of these guys paid their dues. I don't see the false advertising.

A legend would be someone who secured their place music history by having songs they originated reach a certain chart status and/or popularity. The names of these artists are generally known by music lovers.
Augeri touring Journey songs he didn't originate doesn't qualify in my book. Say the name Steve Augeri in casual conversation and no one knows who you're talking about. Say the name Steve Perry....

The shrewdness is he's doing anything it takes to sell tickets. Accuracy (for acts of this level of recognition) is bad for business. You've got people who won't go, people who will go just to hear the songs from the bands, and people who are on the fence. A slogan like that targets those on the fence and maybe pushes them toward buying.
What sounds better? "Legend" or "Footnote"?

Because first it tries to link Augeri with the "iconic 80's band Journey" which suggests that he was in someway connected with the band during the 80's when their "iconic" music was made or that in someway he is the guy behind these iconic songs that will be heard.

The link in this thread clearly states the years SA fronted the band. I'm sorry I just don't see the deception here.

I do not see what is wrong with the way it is advertised either. I would go see it.
