La Do Da is the only surprise in there to me. Anyone who has ever been in a grocery store would recognize the rest. Fans pay for the legacy hits and this delivers.

Looks like they did stick Travis back in a corner.
B/g vocals on Escape sound good.
AP missed a high note or two.
Smitty's drumming awesome, his solo at 32.00 mark.

Journey Plays NYC’s Madison Square Garden for the First Time Tonight

BY ABC News Radio | April 13, 2016
http://kwbe.com/abc_classicr/journey-pl ... d35660873/

In its four-decade career, Journey has had plenty of career milestones, but amazingly, the band has never performed at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden…until tonight.

Wednesday evening is when Journey and their current touring partner, Santana, will headline a double bill at the iconic venue. Journey bass player and founding member Ross Valory says even he has a hard time believing they’ve never played there.

“I keep wondering if I’ve forgotten a show somewhere. Is there a blank? Is there some missing memory?” he laughs. “But actually, we have never played Madison Square Garden. So this is definitely an auspicious occasion, to be right downtown in the Garden with none other than Carlos Santana. This is gonna be fun!”

The band’s current lead singer, Arnel Pineda, is so excited about the Garden gig that he says he wishes that the band’s former frontman could reunite with Journey for the big milestone.

“As a fan I would have loved for them to play this without me, but with Steve Perry,” Pineda tells ABC Radio, referring to the band’s vocalist from 1977 to 1998. Perry is rumored to be working on new music, but he’s essentially been out of the spotlight, and the music industry, for years.

“I wanna be in front, looking at them it’s like, ‘My God, after 19 or whatever years has passed, they’re together!’ you know?” says Pineda.

The Garden concert is the first of a handful of shows that Journey and Santana are doing together. Guitarist Neal Schon is pulling double duty at the gigs, playing with Journey and with Santana. Schon was a member of Santana during the early 1970s before forming Journey.

Very classy and humble of AP and I know he means it. He'd be as excited as any of us to see SP perform with the band again.

Journey setlist is uninspired. Does Smitty at least get a solo?

Glad to see "Who's Crying Now" back in the set and always enjoyed "Send Her My Love".

I would like to see "La Raza Del Sol" added into the set sometimes instead of "La do da". Also be cool to see something from TBF thrown in there like "Message of Love" or "If He Should Break Your Heart".

Songs like la do dah, Send Her My Love, Escape and Only the young are all songs that should be rotated in/out of the set with other songs throughout the tour IMO. Gotta keep it fresh...

Can anyone tell me why Journey always plays La do da? It seems like its always been in the set list since Arnel came along. The song wasn't a hit for them, and with their vast catalog I guess I don't understand why its basically been a mainstay...

Smith came back into a very formulated fold. It's not the same band that he played in back in the day, and he's not the same player as he was back in the day. There's not gonna be much room for him to really shine like he used to with monstrous solos and jams. As fun and nostalgic as it is to see him playing in the band again, the show will most likely remain very blue-printed.

Smitty did about a 2 -1/2 - 3 min solo near the end of La Do Da.

Ahh, Now there's that wonderful Sonor Thunder that's been missing from this revamped version of the band. Sorry Deeno, good voice, good drummer, but your sound sucks.

Add in some stuff from Arrival too. Would like to hear Arnel and Smitty's take on we'll meet again or live and breathe.

Nice rendition by Travis. I give him credit for singing it his way without any Perry affectation. Not as good as Deen tho.

I always knew that Travis Thibodaux was one of the most incredible singers I've ever known. However, I'm the first person who brought him out to LA from Louisiana. I saw Travis and his Father in a Band together, and Travis played me a song that he wanted to record, so I brought him to Bill Champlin's Studio, and he recorded his song. Bill, Jason Scheff, and Me sang the background Vocals on his song. It was absolutely fantastic. I'm Bobby Kimball, and I was the Original Lead Singer of "Toto". I had fun with that Band, but I always loved the way Travis sounded Vocally. I'm so Happy to find out that Travis is now singing with Journey, That's one of the favorite Bands I've ever heard. I love their Musicins, and all of their Songs are truly fantastic. I haven't seen Travis for several years, but I'm going to stay in touch with him, and go hang out with him. I'll also find out if he might be interested to sing one of my songs that I wrote for My Movie that I wrote, which is a true Story, and It will be Filmed in my Home town in Louisiana starting in September. I can't wait to see Travis as soon as possible, and I really want to hear him singing with Journey at a Live Concert. I'm so proud of Travis now. I just spoke with him on the phone, and I know we will get to meet again very soon. I'm sure everyone on this Page loves the way he Sings. I wish you all my very best of everything...Bobby Kimball Official Facebook

Does anybody else get irritated that Journey rarely changes their set list? Its seems like nowadays they top out at 15-16 songs and I know they gotta play the dirty dozen, but they need to switch the other 3-4 songs way more often.

Whether they alter the order of the set list or play different songs, I just wish they weren't so predictable.
