In another interview he says he had begun working on new Journey songs. Let's hope its true.

They must be recieving a sh!t load of money to do this tour considering the state of the band

Interesting that SP had a preference for certain vowel sounds. Not being a vocalist in any way, shape or form, I never would have thought that mattered at all.

Fascinating detail, just the kind of thing I'm hoping to find more of in his book.

Perry's diction has always been very unique.

Watching folks trying to imitate SP's style of singing, cracks me up. It seems
they can't get the contour of the tongue correct, which was natural to SP for his singing style.
But when a few others try it, their mouth is wide open, they are droolng and their
tongue is hanging out. Just isn't natural and looks funny.
There are a couple tribute guys who can do it, without the tomgue hanging out.
Next time you watch one of the guys, watch closely.JMO

I broke down and bought it and I’m not very far into it yet. The religous references don’t bother me in the least but I keep seeing the phrase “my band” and it’s really getting under my skin.

Is there anything in his new book about it being easier for him to write ballads than write rockers? This would explain why Trial By Fire and Arrival are jam-packed with ballads, and rockers are few and far between.

If they have a new Journey album, they need to sit down and write five rockers first. And then fill in the rest with mid-tempo songs and ballads which seem easier for him to write. Just sayin'

Wonder why he wrote the lyrics Lovin touchin squEEzing, Loving you is EEzy, and When your alone it aint EEzy.

But yeah he did do the whole hard A sound on Patient lay and Lights Cit AA...

He did a lot of things to change it up...over Ovah After Aftah. Always loved when the the After instead of Aftah the fall was After You Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahllllll at the end.

Jon is wrong again, Perry not only was a vocal god, but knew how the song should be sung in spite of proper grammar.
I cant think of one song wasnt so fluidic....Okay maybe Backtalk But that song should never had vocals. Its a jam song.

To me the best thing he did on Dont Stop Believin was to drop the g and the slight pause between after stop to emphasis on believin. Guarantee that was something he did.

As a fan, it's always been obvious to me that Perry's diction was very deliberate. Some of it was just to be emotive like Sam Cooke. Other times, it made it easier to sing. That's what good singers do.

It was "When You're Alone It Ain't Eeezaaaay" so it was the a-sound. It wasn't Eeezeeee. Perry wrote that song and knew what he was doing.

Again, that was before Cain's time in the band. Younger Perry could sing virtually anything. By the time of Escape, Perry's voice was starting to change. Why would Cain lie about this?

Comedian Tom Kenny (the voice of Sponge Bob Square Pants) told a very funny story on Dana Gould's podcast. He's not so much of a Journey fan, and one of his jokes back in the day was about the song Lights, and how Steve Perry pronounces the word city as cit-ay. He would go on about it and say stuff like 'What the hell is a cit-ay? Do you know anybody that lives in a cit-ay?' One night he noticed somebody towards the back of the room stand up and walk out while he was performing this routine. He found out later that night that it was Steve Perry

I was listening to TBF on the ride into work today. I noticed specifically on If He Should Break Your Heart all of the words in the lyrics that are not pronounced how they are spelled because of the exaggerated vowels…and it is absolute pure magic.
