Not that I'm privy to all the unreleased stuff that's out there, I don't recall ever hearing this track before. Any insight or other info on it? I think it's mislabeled being associated with Frontiers though with the production clarity.

I believe this was a leftover track from the Strange Medicine album. Funny though, there is a bit of Frontiers influence on there now that I've listened to it again.

Yeah I always assumed this was an early 90's demo myself. The FTLOSM era rasp in there kinda gives it away. Maybe very late 80's after "Against the Wall" was supposed to come out in '88?

since it doesnt sound anything on Against the Wall demo, the 1984 demos or the 1988 finished album, and the production value would have to go with 1994.

The only problem with this is why it wasnt on either +5 singles?


Much better than the songs on there, and even some of FTLOSM itself.

Thanks for the info and feedback guys. I think it's a decent track for being a demo -- could use a little tweaking to tighten some things up, but in the end it's all subjective and I know I couldn't write/record something on par with it

Sonically I do notice leanings more towards what was done on FTLOSM and wonder why it hasn't been released before.

Sidenote (shame on me), I didn't realize that Against the Wall was ever finished -- I was under the impression it was a project started and stalled/shelved.

Yeah, he added all the songs that were supposed to be on the album as bonus tracks to his solo '06 FTLOSM remaster as well as tracks 6-12 on his remastered Greatest Hits. I think he mentions something in the liner notes to one of those albums something like "now you have all the tracks on my unreleased "Against the Wall" album" if I'm remembering right. I haven't read the liner notes in a looooong time. lol

I don't know when this song is from. It has keyboards that sound like Frontiers, but the guitar sounds like it is from Steve Perry solo albums in late 1980's or early 1990's. However, at the end of the song, Perry hits some really high notes that sound like from 1978. The mystery continues.....

But listen to the high notes Steve Perry hits at the end of the song. I don't think he could hit those notes after 1978 or perhaps 1979. Those notes are off the chart high like in Wheel in the Sky. Perhaps this is a demo from Steve Perry's band before Journey.

For what it’s worth, Steve hits an A above high C in Sun Shines GrAy which I believe is the same note as Wheel In The Sky so it could have been from any era.
