Even if you dislike Eclipse....

You have to admit this song ticks all the boxes of a great Journey song.

Cain's keys and Schon's guitar equally sharing the spotlight - check.
Cain's hyperglycemic saccharine lyrics - check
Arnel's Perry-esque high tenor vocals - check
A great sing-a-long chorus - check

Edge of the Moment is my favorite by far from that one

I like that song a lot too. However, unlike AIP, Cain's contributions take a very distant backseat.

I still think Tantra is one of the best pieces of music they've ever done

Plus EOAM, To Whom It May Concern, Resonate, some great tracks

Agreed! I would classify both Tantra and To Whom It May Concern as ballads - they are just not your typical bubblegum boy-meet-girl ballads.

I listened to it last week. Chain of Love and Tantra are my 2 favorite songs on that album. I like City of Hope too
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

There are definitely some great moments on Eclipse, AIP being one of, if not, the best. I wish AIP would have done away with the whole outro solo/singing, though. Up to that point, it's perfection. Neal had so many great moments throughout the song; we didn't need another two-minute wankfest at the end.

AIP has all the Journey signature hooks, but it's not that good a song (imo) ... unmemorable.
To me .. the best SA-Journey song is Edge of the Moment. The best AP-Journey song is Tantra.

I know we've discussed this previously. I really like the dark turn the song takes.

To quote Neal, the whole album is very "cinematic."

I listened to the CD twice when it came out. The 2nd time against my better judgement. Didn't hear one redeeming quality to it.

You miss-typed really badly. I think that you meant to say that Eclipse was their best album since Frontiers?!?!

That's one more spin than I gave it. A few songs I played a few times. Other than that, just had nothing for me.

I'm a huge, huge James Bond fan. I love the first 20 Bond films! I also love "Never Say Never Again" which was an unofficial James Bond film, it was also a remake of Thunderball. But I hated Casino Royale with Daniel Craig so much that I have never watched it a second time. I've also never watched any of the other Daniel Craig Bond films.

Craig is a fine actor. Not my choice for Bond, but has done his best. If you like old school Bond, watch Spectre. It's the most Roger Moore-ish one of the bunch.

Even the worst Journey albums to me - ROR, Generations, - have numerous redeeming qualities. So I simply can't take your opinion seriously when you engage in hyperbole like that. Even if you dislike the harder rock, guitar-driven direction, there's quite a bit on there that sounds like classic Journey.

You can't really judge an album in absolute isolation: historical context and expectation matters.
Journey were still riding a huge wave of renewed interest, and they talked a lot of smack about
Eclipse as being some really innovative shit.

Well, I struggled to find the innovation, but the shit was fucking abundant.
Tried re-listening and gave up two tracks in --because I could recall the rest of it too clearly.
Definitely off it now...

There's a number of tracks on the album would fit right at home on Revelation or Arrival or one of the earlier albums. So I just can't take your opinion all that seriously. Andrew gave it an A. He's right.
