If I remember correctly Herbie managed these guys in the US for a little while, or maybe their tour.

Yes Herbie did manage them in the US through the PIP album. Multiple band members have referenced Journey as inspirational to them. "Forever Traveling," at least to me, is one of their better post-reunion songs. More inline with TFC-PIP sound than some of the more Deep Purple/Thin Lizzy knock-off sound that has permeated much of their recent output.
