This is NOT the so-called "official" group but a Facebook page called the Tails of Steve Perry. And yes true believers its TOTALLY NEW as of April 2020. I suggest you go over there and read it. It is done in many parts as they actually foot Herbie to answer prepared questions that ended up being a 5 hour interview! Good stuff!!!

Go here: https://m.facebook.com/TheTailsofStevePerry/

And then you have to scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll....

I have not read it, but it's annoying that the individual posts (it's broken down into many parts) don't have links back to the part before, and then updated with a link to the next part once it posts.

Great Stuff! Thanks to Memorex for the the links ... I never would bother to sort it all out on the Facebook page. Glad I took the time to read it all.
But, there's still more to the 5-hr interview not yet released, right?

Of course, as hardcore Journey fans, we all know the history and the events mentioned. But to have HH go in-depth and have such recollection to the details is fascinating reading for us.

Some posters here have said wouldn't it nice for one of guys to write a tell-all book. Well, the best, most talkable person just gave us the first few chapters.

Just from browsing it, Herbie sounds very complimentary and flattering towards SP. This interview stands in stark contrast to his 'slash and burn' approach to SP in the Castles Burning HH interview. Alliances are clearly shifting. Somebody should ask HH what he thinks of the current state of the band.

After reading just a small portion of it, my main takeaway is how good of a story teller Herbie is. He could write Hollywood scripts. That's not to say I think what he is saying is not true. I believe every word of it. But he really a great character all on his own.

They say 20 more parts. Seems like a very odd way to share an interview.

In Part 33, there is a story about Journey skydiving out of an airplane into a stadium and then appearing on stage wearing the sky diving gear. Van Halan did this EXACT SAME STUNT back in 1978. I just found it pretty funny reading Herbie telling this tale in the same way that Sammy Hagar has about seeing Van Halan do it way back then:
https://ultimateclassicrock.com/sammy-h ... van-halen/

It's a good story, but Journey wasn't the first to do it, this time!

Thanks Memorex for all of those links and thanks to the 'Tails of Steve Perry' I have now followed their Page.

I have copied all of the Herbie Herbert interviews [so far] from their Facebook page and saved them into one document. They are up to page 44 of 48. They are posting the final instalments shortly.

I have messaged them to ask permission to post them in their entirety on here for those who do not use Facebook and for those who would like to read the whole thing in one go.
I am waiting for their permission to post it.

EDIT
As I expected, they have asked that their posts are not copied/pasted elsewhere.
Totally understandable. But - worth asking, I thought!

They ask that interested folks check out and follow their page - https://m.facebook.com/TheTailsofStevePerry/

Reading what they've posted so far it looks like Herbie feels comfortable with them and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't collaborate with them some more in future.
So the page is worth a follow, I think.
He is pure gold and has loads more stories.
Wish he would write that book.

When they mentioned writing a book, he flat out said "NO!" He just doesn't want to do it. I wonder if he would allow someone to interview him and allow that person to write the book and have him approve of it. That may be a work around. I think he should at least consider it to get all of these stories officially documented. I doubt very much that most people realize how much he and Journey influenced the modern concert experience.

They say visit their page but then post an interview in 48 parts, each part being no more than 2 minutes of reading. I do not get that method at all. Especially the ones that are like 3 sentences. Good on them for their score, but no reason to make the reader jump through such hoops.

Anyway, I get it, but I don't get it.

He has a wealth of stories about loads of musicians and there is an eager audience waiting to hear them.

Personally I would like to hear his stories in his words, so I would rather he write it himself, or if he were to have someone write it for him, I would hope they would write it so that his personailty shines through.

Never know, now he's opened up to the people running this Facebook page, maybe he'll open up some more.
I think this is definitely a 'watch this space' situation and we can live in hope.

When the "Castles Burning" interview was done, I think Herbie said he wanted to approve of it before it was released...so he was not misquoted. I would not be surprised if he did the same thing here. It seems they broke up the interview into logical "topics" and maybe had Herbie approve each section....just guessing, but it makes sense to me.

Yes, I understand what you are saying. I think it could be done by doing a lot of quoting of his words directly.

I wouldn't mind if someone took this, "Castles Burning", and I think there was one other interview from back then, and summarized them into a short book format...just to get it all together. Maybe Herbie would approve of that and add on any extra bits if he wanted to fill in any other blanks.

He's quite the character.
I'd like to read it whatever form it took, but as you said, in the Facebook group's interview, when asked, he gave them a very firm NO.
