New Journey in 2021!

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Tue Jun 02, 2020 2:18 am

According to Schon, there will be new Journey music by July. I imagine this will be an EP or a single. I wonder if there is added pressure to release new product under the Journey name before it gets tied up in court. Geoff Tate rushed out a pretty horrible Queensryche album before he lost use of the name. Whatever it is, I hope it fulfills thirsty fans expectations.

Cool. Anxious to see what talents Narada brings aside from his drum playing.

Disappointing that it's probably only an EP as opposed to a full length album.

The "rush" is likely more to give the fans something in lieu of the cancelled gigs.

It could be a single or two to get fans warmed up for a full album released in the fall.

People can listen to all the Journey songs on Amazon. Just say, "Alexa, play new Journey song." Anyway, the people who go to Journey concerts have no excuse for not knowing the new songs. They can listen to them for free. The casual fans like Journey enough to buy concert tickets. They should do a little homework before going to the concert.

I know they won't do it even though it is painless. They will head to the restroom for the new songs Journey plays. Lazy casual fans!

Arrival is the best Perryless Journey album...and it seems it always will be.

I definitely like Arrival, but even the Japanese release of the album needed another Rocker or two. The American release was way too light.

I wanted Eclipse so bad. And I wanted to love Eclipse so bad. But overall I just couldn't stay with it. I love Arrival. Always will.

Yeah Eclipse to me was just a broadway musical production. Never got into it. I'd probably also have to go with Arrival.

I think Revelation and Eclipse are both tighter albums than Arrival. Arrival has too much Kalodner-mandated wedding filler. Revelation and Eclipse are lean and mean. Sonically, Eclipse is an interesting album to return to. Neal's multi-layered guitars and Cain synth- soundscapes make it both familiar yet different. Arrival has alot of songs with big hooks, but it also has a lot of generic balladry. I think most would agree that Generations is the weakest of the bunch.

Actually back when it came out, my wife was the one that planted that word in my head about it. I was trying to come up with a description and that one stuck with me. Just how it felt at the time.

Musically they were doing a lot and I respect that. Just never hit the mark for me.

I agree on all counts. However, although Augeri was toast live at that point, I think he sounded better on Generations than Arrival.

Also, I'll take Eclipse over anything they've done since Escape and Frontiers, if not ever...

Arrival had a lot of cool songs on it, but yet it was bloated with ballads. They should have cut it down to 10 songs and then added two more rockers. I know they added two rockers, but only one of them I liked.

Eclipse was so close to being a perfect Journey album. They just needed a little help. Another song writer could have pushed it to the stratosphere. As is, I still love it.

Tantra is the only thing close to being a Broadway show tune. I think Jon was tapping into a Still They Ride style song.

I have no idea what to expect from the next album. (If there is a full album.) I am excited with the new blood in the band. It could be something special.

I’m excited by the new lineup, as well. It will be interesting to see where that new energy takes them. As much as I like Ross and Steve it seems they were dead weight that suppressed the band’s growth and creativity. Many times I felt Jonathan was part of that dead weight but lately I’ve been more encouraged. Hopefully he’s “all in” and inspired by the new lineup.

There is a slight theatrical element to Tantra. I believe Jeremey (or somebody) said it sounded a little Disney. I think it's an epic power ballad myself - and not about the standard boy-meets-girl dribble.

Thanks, man. Talking about vinyl. There's this site, https://vinylart.co/?v=7516fd43adaa that makes vinyl records of songs that you send them and they claim that they have the rights to millions of songs to put in vinyl. I contacted them to see if they have the rights to Red 13 songs to put on vinyl. They haven't answered yet. That would be cool.

Kelty better than Schon/Cain/Walden? Extremely doubtful.
