Call To The Heart

Postby Journey/Survivor » Mon Jun 29, 2020 12:58 pm

As many of you no doubt know, the band Giuffria have a song called Call To The Heart that is sung by David Glen Eisley.

Eisley's singing on that song resembles Steve Perry's singing.

Where would any of you rank Eisley's lead vocals on that song for resembling Steve Perry's singing in general, as compared to how much Arnel Pineda, Kevin Chalfant or others like Steve Augeri, Jeff Scott Soto, Hugo and other singers sound similar to Perry?

What singer that you've heard sounds the most like Perry?
And where would David Glen Eisley on Call To The Heart rank for sounding like Perry?

Don't know about comparing him to Perry, but always liked that song. It's a great one hit wonder trivia question.

The lead singer is now some type of a big time land developer in Las Vegas.

Good song but he seems to go out of his way to sound like Perry on this one song,
Most of the 2 albums they did he doesnt sound Perry at all.

Good singer tho, should had hit it big with another band, but know he was successful as a background singer.

He had some of the richness of Perry's voice down lower, but he couldn't go up high and still sound that way like Perry did.

And I love that song.

How would any of you compare Eisley's vocals on CTTH for sounding like Perry compared to Pineda and Chalfant's ability to sound like Perry.

If memory serves, he sang background vocals on some of the Jon and Neal songs of Jimmy Barnes' Freight Train Heart album.

His best performance though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUZNXgIXM1c

DGE sounds like where Perry was headed with Frontiers as his voice became a little lower and raspier. But he doesn't have the Cooke-isms that Perry so perfectly utilized.

Giuffria actually had two moderate hits. And it was Greg Giuffria who is the land owner in Vegas.

I used to think this all the time. Although, I admit I've heard nothing else from either Giuffria or Eisley to base that on. Call To The Heart though? Damn if that's not about as close to 1984/5 Steve Perry as it gets, imho.
