The Soul SirkUS album was released in 2004 so Neal and JSS had been working together for a while. And although its hard to hear in this video, anyone who said JSS didn't sound right for Journey had probably made up their mind before ever hearing a note. He had an uncanny ability to replicate Frontiers era Perry.

JSS's addition to the band excited me from a writing chemistry standpoint. Hitting the high notes is great, but a dynamic front-man should do more than that. In hindsight, the band should have moved on with Kevin Chalfant and Greg Rolie as soon as Perry started acting like a flake.

I agree. You cannot let one person take over the band. They should have never done Raised on Radio. They should have done Freedom even if they had to get somebody else. And I am not being biased against Perry either. Neal shouldn't be allowed to take over the band all by himself either. That is why I like the new additions. There is new blood with new ideas and able to guide the band into what I am hoping is a good place. They need balance. They cannot be all ballads. They cannot be all rockers. They need a delicate balance of both.

Cool find

Maybe they should have moved before ROR but then we may never have gotten Trial By Fire, which i just love.
