Yeah I had seen this and it showed how great his pitch was (still is) and how Auto-Tune took all the life out of his vocal. Even the guy doing the Auto-Tune thought he was doing the dumbest thing ever and even joked aloud if he might not be struck dead for doing this. Perry's pitch has always been stupid good.

Yeah, I saw this, too. Some of the tuning was so marginal that it really didn't change anything. There was one point where he said Perry was a bit sharp but after tuning, it sounded worse...I wonder if Perry did it on purpose because it sounded better.

The interesting thing to me is that he says that ALL songs on top 40 radio are now autotuned. There are really two issues here; the first is obviously what this guy was doing to Perry, autotuning. But, there are also audio affects that do odd things to the vocals. Both of which are used a LOT in top 40 music. I hate both.

There is another video by a guy who explains why Boomers and X'ers hate autotune. He really nails it. I just can't stand it...it's adds a phoniness to how the vocals sound. The first example in the Perry video made Perry's voice warbly...that sorta sound is all over top 40 and I hate it.

Yeah, you don't autotune Perry. lol

This video DID make me finally search and track down the multitrack to DSB though, long overdue on my part!!

This reminds me of one of Cher's hit songs that sounds like this. It sounds like a robot singing or something. I wondered how they did that. Now, I know.
