First single. Yes, it's a cd of holiday covers.

Wow...a LOT of Perry fans will be happy...they've wanted this for decades...

But, for me, this is not my style. It's like Bing Crosby. I mean, that's my parents style. It literally IS Bommer music.

But, whatever.

Never thought I'd say this but I enjoy the jazz piano more than Perry's singing....

Fuck no.

It's the last bastion before morphing into Englebert Humperdinck.

We already heard Silver Bells by Steve Perry in stores last Christmas season. Now, with this new album, we will hear Steve Perry in every store during Christmas season for the rest of our lives!

Who the fuck releases a Christmas single in September

No desire to listen to the album at all. Of course, I will, and I hope there's a curve ball cover on there but I'm not holding my breathe

I like this for what it is… a voice I like singing songs I like at Christmas time.

It is what it is.

Well, to be fair to the 'Dink, he's in his eighties and still tours his ass off. Can't say the same for Perry.

Say what you want about it...he's getting another album out there.

Lame.

But then I despise Christmas music anyway; wish he'd have done acoustic covers of Journey hits and/or duets with other musicians who adore him.

Yeah, he's definitely getting the jump on the glut of seasonal albums that will be released in November! But standard promo is usually a lead-off single a month or two before the album so this falls in line. It's just that most artists don't pre-load this far in advance of Seasonal albums...

100% agree! No fan of Christmas albums but always want to check out anything Perry releases.

Sadly I am realizing his voice is no longer a voice I like.......

Very true. From a man most of us had written off, never thinking we'd get any new music ever again, he's now got two releases out as we still wait for Journey.

This is true. I am NOT holding my breath, but maybe Perry is planning a tour for November/December 2022 and now he has all these Christmas songs to choose from to add to the crowded set list.

This begs the question. Will Perry release a third album before Journey releases their next album? You know Perry is sitting on a lot of new original material. He might even have it in the can and just waiting to release it whenever the mood strikes him as the right time.

Venues are booked months and months in advance. If a tour Christmas tour were happening, we would know about it.

Maybe he's rejoining Journey to be part of their Vagas thing. Hmmmm.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is something else coming down the line. Whether fans like what he’s doing or not, the fact is he’s doing what he likes, when he wants to, with who he wants to, how he wants to, and he’s releasing it on his own terms. That’s a recording musicians dream right there. Journey, their management and their record label are currently coming off like Abbott and Costello’s Who’s on First.

The very first one with his voice on it that I won't be purchasing in any form. Probably won't even listen.

Same. And people are just kidding themselves if they think he's gonna go out and "tour" on a Christmas album.

He's become a studio voice. That's it.

That is why I typed 2022! Surely, they don't start selling tickets in September 2021 for a concert in November or December of 2022.

Yeah, no chance of any tour any time - but that's fine.

I just wish he wasn't sliding down the insipid blue-rinse-brigade music style. I liked Traces, but it was way too soft....now this barely has a pulse.

To be fair, you can't say that about anything until you've heard it. Yeah, they're traditional songs that we've all heard a million versions of. And it's a gamble because it's focused on a specific crowd. Doesn't mean a soulful spin won't make it interesting.

Here's the track listing btw.

01. The Christmas Song
02. I'll Be Home For Christmas
03. Auld Lang Syne
04. Winter Wonderland
05. What Are You Doing New Year's Eve
06. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
07. Silver Bells
08. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

I've heard the single.
I hate Christmas albums.
I hate slow jazzy Christmas songs.

Decision made.

Hum bug...turn off the Christmas lights and stuff the turkey! Andrew, you just might come around. Everybody was crying when he wasn't singing and now that he's singing these Christmas tunes people want to shoot darts and dilly the beans...My goodness people, what is it that they say, if you can't please yourself then screw the rest! Or, it's something like that!

Those who want to get a serious leg up on that seasonal holiday. The album comes out in November. And... Surprise, surprise his voice sounds even cleaner than before.

I KNOW!!! He can't seem to win with some of the folks here. He was written off here by many as a big has-been, do nothing, even lazy but pined over nonetheless and now he has 3 albums out while the big guns of Journey haven't released nothing in over 11 years...some complain. Over a season that they supposedly enjoy. Ok. Maybe they hate the music but it comes with the territory.

By the way people...the way he did this Christmas album SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXPECTED by most here. He said back in an interview of January 2011 with FanAslyum how he would do it. Go look it up. He is...in many ways a man of his word. If he says he is or is not going to do something....believe it. He will/won't.

Agreed. I just think he does it on his own clock. Don't rush. No pressure. It's all in due time. His time. You might have almost forgot about it but he's somewhere thinking...oh yeah, Christmas music!
