According to Narada's social media, him and Neal are "wrapping up the Journey double album" today.
Unlike Arrival, where unused tracks ended up on Red 13 or other artist projects, it sounds like Journey is keeping and putting out everything they recently wrote together. Exciting.

That's awesome news if it in fact is a double album!?!?

Nice!! I was kinda wondering in the back of my mind if they were going to go back and rework the album a bit during this downtime since they Neal said they had a lot more material than just enough for a single album.

Wow, wasn’t expecting that, but could explain why it’s taking so long for the album release. Very exciting, indeed!

If it was one disc of songs that are similar to the Eclipse album, and one disc that is more like the Escape album, I'd be very happy.
If there are a lot of ballads on it then there had better be even more Rockers on the album than there are ballads.

The question is, will it suck? Or should I say they suck?
I'm going on record, if the guitars are detuned for a replacement singer I'm going to be pissed.

If this is a double album and that means two CDs, the question will be which CD do you like better? This could be fun!

I'll second that!

So, you would be happy if it were one disc where the songs are like Eclipse, and one disc where they rerecord the entire Escape album?

Not neccisarily. They could have one CD that has 20 songs....10 from each "album".
But, it's not "confirmation" of anything. Confirmation would be a label saying it...not a band member.

I didn't say rerecord Escape. I said "More like the Escape album." In other words a new album that more closely resembles Escape in style.

Now, if they wanted to be sneaky, they would have 19 news songs and then a new version of Don't Stop Believin'. Then probably a thousand or more people would buy it for DSB alone! The new version of DSB could have an extended guitar solo by Neal.

The band has changed quite a lot so, expanding on your comment, one hypothesis could be 1 Cd of new tracks and a 2nd Cd of re-recordings of old tracks.

Previously, they have talked about rerecording another album of hits. They have also briefly discussed re-recording Arrival and even Escape. I'm not really a fan of either of these ideas.

Maybe they can do one album for each new member since the lawsuit. That would be like a six album release.

Or, maybe they can invite previous lead singers in and give them one song each. One song for Perry, one song for Augeri, one song for JSS, one song for Chalfant, one song for Fleischman, one song for Gregg, one song for Hugo, one song for Jason Kelty, one song for Jeremy....that could be an album all by itself.

I know you're joking, but Carlos Santana had one of his biggest albums when he had guest singers. Perhaps Journey could do that for one of the CDs and Arnel is lead vocals for the other one.

The Arnel versions of Generations tunes were not good to me. Augeri had strengths and weaknesses but I would ask that Journey leave his era of music as recorded.

Agreed. Faith in the heartland is better with Augeri. It’s not as polished and that’s a good thing.

The Arnel/Revelation versions of FITH and PIYH are more polished than the Generations versions. I really chalk it up to Shirley. The Arnel FITH, in particular, has more emphasis on Cain's keys.

You would think the polish would be a good thing, given the major criticisms of Red13 and Generations was the rough mix. But there was more energy.

Styx did an album of extended hits. I didn't hear it, but they probably made their hits songs long and bloated. I am NOT sure that is a good idea.
Maybe Journey can rerecord Eclipse with Jason on lead vocals for some of the songs so "She is a Mystery" doesn't sound like "He is a Mystery." Also, there are subtle changes I would make on Eclipse that would actually make it better.

You really should not talk about things you don't know about. Styx simply rerecorded the hits. They did TWO albums "Regeneration 1 &2". They used it as a way to release a new song as well:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIvnXnl ... nel=Gwhrdtand a rerecord of Damn Yankees "Coming of Age":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP7vKyZ ... nel=Gwhrdtand "High Enough"

Yeah, rerecord Eclipse, that's a great way to get labels interested in this 50yr old band who had it's peak 40yrs ago.

They re recorded the songs almost exactly as they originally were. Nothing extended. Just wanted to showcase the new lineup.
