Andrew Herbie Herbert here . Kevin Chalfont Emailed me about your
interest in interviewing me . You may call me any day at 2:00 pm your time.
I think that would be 7:00 pm my time, and tape a conversation. Until then
peace out HH

I had the greatest opportunity to interview Herbie back in 2001. He gave me insights into Journey, and gave me perspectives I had never considered. I always considered Herbie the architect of the band, and he created an absolute monster. So sad to learn of this loss - my best to those who knew him better than I did.

My love of Journey (The Storm, Mr. Big) is owed greatly to Herbie. This is sad news, indeed.
That said, how do you think this affects BTS of Journey's business?

So very sad and unexpected to read tonight......rest in peace Herbie. That dude did more for the music industry from behind the scenes than most will ever know.

Herbie was an excellent business man. He created Journey and made it a success. I remember from the Frontiers and Beyond video, Herbie listening to Journey performing in concert and saying, "This is better than sex." That is how great he made Journey.

Are you referring to the Castles Burning interview? If so, that remains such a definitive interview for Journey fans.

Herbie will be sorely missed. Without Herbie, there would be no Journey, no one word album marketing, no "jumbotrons" on the stage, etc. He was straight up, held no punches, direct person. MY KIND OF DUDE! He will be sorely missed.
I agree with TNC, the castles burning interview and Mac's were both epic. You didn't have to guess what Herbie was thinking.

Sometimes you can be too stubborn for your own good; a door is blown open and you can stand there uncertain if you should walk through the threshold or believe in another man’s dream. People do come into our lives to help us achieve magic when we least expect it HH was a man who knew his life’s meaning, lived his truth and completed his purpose. Rest in Heaven. You have to be willing to know you’re not the only one walking with magic.

Ironic that Herbie passed away 31 years to the day that his mentor, Bill Graham, did. RIP

No, it is exactly 30. Bill died Oct 25, 1991.

It appears the band did a corporate show tonight. Arnel's assistant, Yul, was live streaming it. Neal dedicated Lights to Herbie.

I didn't know Herbie, but he seemed like the kind of guy who would be fun to hang out with at the bar. The stories he could tell.....

I meant to type 30. Must've been my brain shorting at that moment...
Thx.

Great quote by Neal....
"I’ve come to the conclusion that who needs a manager if you can’t have Herbie Herbert."

According to this article I found online, there is a documentary about Herbie's life in the works. Remember that they filmed everything Journey did. So, maybe we will see some stuff we never saw before in this new documentary.

They've been posting bts photos on his social media accounts. I think the working title is "Who The Fuck Is Herbie Herbert" or something like that. Will be nice to hear some final thoughts from the man. From Journey, I believe Neal was interviewed and Ross.

I still think if Steve Perry hadn't gone power hungry and forced Raised on Radio on them, and instead Journey did Freedom after Frontiers (which was Herbie's master plan all along) that Journey would have been huge in 1987 and 1988 doing large stadium shows and being the top grossing band in the world. I am pretty sure Freedom would have been more like Escape and Frontiers and NOT like Raised on Radio at all. They could have kept Be Good To Yourself and maybe a few others, but they would have rocked a hell of a lot more. Freedom would have been their best album ever, and then Journey could have retired on top of the world. Herbie would have said something like, "Journey is retired. There is nothing else we can do. We conquered the world."

Now, I want a 14-hour documentary on Journey that goes in depth on all the phases of the band from the start, but I fear the only man capable of putting that together is Herbie Herbert, and sadly he is gone.

So, with all the talk of a pending documentary, and with the recent suggestion here on this forum of a tribute concert, just how involved will Steve Perry be? Could he join in something like they did for Bill Graham? I doubt it'll be a big outdoor show like that one, but there should be something in a theatre at least. (Do the Bammies give life time awards?)
Perry wouldn't have had his start, way back when, if HH didn't bring John Villanueva's "Portuguese cousin" along to replace Robert Fleischman. We all know the story.
Again, many will ask, what will Steve Perry's level of participation be?
later~

Another question: Will Steve Perry take part in the Herbie Herbert documentary? Even just a few sentences?
