Freedom Track List

Postby jrnyman28 » Wed Feb 16, 2022 11:46 pm

Neal has released the track list for Freedom on his Instagram. By song title the 2nd half of the album sounds the more interesting. Sorta gives me a Frontiers vibes that way.

From this, we know the last song won't be the usual instrumental that Neal has done for the last two albums. Is another song an instrumental? I guess we have to wait to find out.

I wonder if All Day, All Night is the greatest rock song ever. Or it could be a ballad....

Or, they remade a John Waite song:

Oh, here's the lyrics to "Let It Rain" ;)

The rain is falling through the mist
Of sorrow that surrounded me.
The sun could never thaw away
The bliss that lays around me.

[Chorus:]
Let it rain, let it rain,
Let your love rain down on me.
Let it rain, let it rain,
Let it rain, rain, rain.

Her life was like a desert flower
Burning in the sun.
Until I found the way to love,
It's harder said than done.

[Chorus]

Now I know the secret;
There is nothing that I lack.
If I give my love to you,
You'll surely give it back.

[Chorus]

"Freedom is also the name of Journey's upcoming North American tour, which launches on Feb. 22 in Pittsburgh. Toto will provide support for the entire trek. The band was originally scheduled to split opening duties with Billy Idol, but the punk rocker had to bow out of the tour to receive sinus surgery."

This is big news! I think I will enjoy Toto a lot more than Billy Idol. Everything is coming together. Now, I am excited again.

I'm guessing no vinyl release unless it's a 2LP set.

I thought this was supposed to be a double album. It just looks like a bloated album like Trial By Fire and Arrival.

Yeah, and the first half is all love songs. Maybe not all "ballads" or slow songs....but all love songs.

And, come on...some of these titles are so similar to other songs. It becomes a bit silly.

"Come Away With Me" Styx, "Come Sail Away"...
"Come, come away
come, come away
Come, come away with me..." LOL

"Don't give up on us" reminds me of a Storm song, "Don't Give Up"...or the Peter Gabriel/Kate Bush duet.
"You Got the Best of Me" reminds me of BE's "Best of What I Got"
"Holdin On" - Did Journey just cover a TANE' CAIN song? WTF?
"Let It Rain" - As I joked above, is an old Eric Clapton song...Journey could cover it, I guess. Or, Jonathan could be covering a Michael W. Smith Christian Rock song...
"All Day, All Night" - reminds me of the John Waite song above.

Also, "After Glow" is ONE WORD "afterglow"...unless there is some weird context thing going on....I was thinking a Neal Instrumental. But, what a typo...who is responsible for that?

I know I'm pretty critical...but these titles look very weird to me. Whatever...on the surface, it looks pretty lame to me.

Yes! This could have easily been trimmed down to the best 12 songs. Maybe all 15 are just so great that they all had to be included, but I doubt it.

A label like BMG is big enough to release an album worldwide so I’m have doubts too if Frontier is releasing it in Europe and Japan. I just hope the US release isn’t another a Walmart deal.

Will Freedom include one CD of new material and one CD of the Greatest Hits recorded live with orchestra? Remember, they recorded that. What are they going to do with that? Are they busy shopping it around to Wal-Mart, Target, anybody else?

I am actually looking forward to this. I hope it gets a big release. Would love to see this on different exclusive versions of vinyl (Target, Barnes & Noble etc).

If they are doing that, what they should have done is performed and videod four or five new songs, including the single...and NOT put those on the CD, except maybe the single. Then sold them separate and as a package. Then, if you want all the new songs, you need both...So may as well get the package.
