Love the song.

The mix is horrendous. Chorus almost unlistenable.

Yeah, I hoped that the mix would be better than TWWUTB. Unfortunately, it's worse. Great song though and it makes me more hyped to hear the rest of the album.

The song is good but missing something. Mix is awful

As others have noted that mix is mind bending. But I like the song and good to see the album has a July release date.

Good song, horrible mix, I hope the whole album doesn't sound like this, maybe the delay to a September release is because they're re-doing it.

Love the song but the production is god awful, everything is muddy and you can’t hear most of what Arnel is singing.

Journey seems to be a bad mix band these days... Live, on record, it's all bad.

How did it all come to this?

This could have been a great song. But, as everybody has said, it just sounds bad.

Maybe they changed the sound for YouTube so people can't just download it and have a good copy? It reminds of back in the Napster days when you would download a song that was compressed too much.

It also seems they try to give too much emphasis on bass and drums. It sorta messes up Arnel's vocal in the mix.

Overall, this is what I wish Eclipse sounded like. A sort of evolution of Revelation without changing so much they sound like a different band. Not bad....too bad the production/mix sort of ruins it.

Come on, it seemed like Narada was working on it for two years. If they don't have it right by now, they never will.

Any idea who the musicians actually performing on this record are? I'd thought this album was largely recorded/produced when the lineup was going to be Randy on bass and Narada on drums. Neal was promising a "funk" vibe when he was in the studio. But this doesn't really deliver on that. The drums have all the hallmarks of Deen.

Interesting that BMG is the publisher. Are they the label, too?

Also, Freedom JN, LLC is the new corporate entity that must have the Journey license. I did a quick Google and it looks like they sued Frontiers over some weirdness about members being Italian? Don't get it at all.

I also agree that it doesn't sound like Narada and Randy changed the sound much. It sounds like a song from Revelation to me.

The mix sucks but the song is kickass. Reminds me of Change for the Better but… better.

Exactly, I just don't get it. That's why I wonder if they just morphed it for YT so people would not be able to download a good copy for free.

The sound is terrible on Spotify as well. I’ve never heard of an artist purposely ruining their audio quality.

Rest in peace Journey 1973-2006.

Worst mix I have ever heard from a major band.

Well, just looking for an excuse. The way Jonathan talked about wanting to avoid another Napster incident made me think maybe they would do something like that - I wouldn't put it past them. No reason to do it on Spotify though.

Too bad - this could have been a decent single.

I just checked it out on Amazon Music and its only streaming in HD instead of Ultra HD, so maybe it is possible they nerfed it a bit prior to release for the reasons mentioned? I don't know, I'm also just kinda looking for reasons why this sounds so muddy to be honest since the long build up to this album doesn't add up to it sounding like this unless literally everyone involved in the production are losing their hearing. I am liking the song itself more and more with each listen though, hopefully there will be a miracle and the final product will sound better on physical media.

Maybe they are trying to save money. They are pinching their pennies and the result is a horrible mix.

Penny wise and a dollar foolish!

Real talk though this sounds orders of magnitude worse than even Red 13. This is fucking terrible audio. Narada is a clown.

I never really understood Neal's obsession with pushing the 'new strut funk' sound. Some people were buying into it like it was going to be the second coming of Parliament. At the end of the day the new rhythm section would be working for Journey, not the other way around. They weren't going to stray from the classic Journey sound.

I wouldn't have minded a few tracks with a "Once You Love Somebody" groove.

Why couldn't they have played You Got the Best of Me at the concert a month ago? This would have been so cool.
