Has anyone ever heard this story before? According to Cain's book, SP told him and Neal he was leaving the band at the beach. So this was an interesting tidbit.

I never heard anything about that.

But ironically I almost posted a question last night about Cain's book.

My question is how much of Cain's book is about his time in Journey, Bad English, The Baby's and other ROCK info?
And how much of the book is about religion, politics, his marriages any other stuff that has nothing to do with ROCK music?

I'd like to get the book as long as there's a good amount of Journey, Bad English and The Baby's info. But if it's mostly the religion and politics type of stuff I'm not interested.

It's all of the above, though not much politics. It's a decent mix of what you would want to hear about, but not all that deep. The most honest stuff is about how his son suffered from depression and the responsibility he (Jon) needed to take for helping him get well.

You know how casual fans say, "This isn't the real Journey without Steve Perry." To be consistent, they should also say, "This isn't the real 49ers without Joe Montana!"

I think many did...until they realized that Steve Young was not only a worthy replacement but was having a better career than even Montana did. In the end Young had the better career, at least on paper and statistics.

I'd never heard about this, pretty interesting.......I wonder what year this was? I'd imagine maybe this was likely following the Frontiers tour when Steve went off to do Street Talk and that was the night he told the rest of the band? It definitely doesn't jive with the story of his '87 exit.

Right after JourneyHard made his post, I almost made a post saying that Steve Young was even better, but I figured that if I did that I would get some "You're crazy" responses.
