Neal Schon is a melodic savant. As evidence, there is no version of Rock Candy that swaggers the way this one does. I've watched them all today across legions of legendary guitarists. IMHO, this describes perfectly how Schon is disproportionately responsible for the melodicism and fire that made Journey Journey, no matter the vocalist. And this ain't even Journey. Unrehearsed, baby! Unrehearsed!! That spaceman fro is legendary! No one approaches songs with such a melodic sensibility as this dude does.
