Which album in your opinion had the best sound production?

Postby jestor92 » Fri Jun 02, 2023 1:42 am

I’ve been listening to Journey a lot the last few days. I think Raised on Radio is my favorite sounding album of the bunch they have done with Trial By Fire and Eclipse after. Raised on Radio is my least favorite Perry album, but the crispness of the recording is great. I think Escape is their best, but also the worst sounding album they put out. What are your thoughts?

Off the top of my head....probably TBF or ROR.

The worst - probably Freedom.

TBF is sonically the best. Eclipse is up there too. Freedom and Generations suck.

Agree with Freedom. The thing sounds alright on headphones, but in 2023 you shouldn’t need headphones for an album to sound decent.

TBF is my favorite.

Departure is my least favorite with sound production. It always sounded very flat to me. It's a shame because some of those songs are my favorite.

In 2023 no one is expecting anything to be listened to without headphones, air pods, ear buds, etc....unless it is coming straight out of the phone....

Worst would probably be Generation and Red13. I quickly grew to LOVE Red13 but I remember the shock of hearing the production on that.
I do think ROR may be the best sound. TBF was very good but it became a detriment when I focused on Perry's voice.

Funny that you name Departure as your least favorite. My favorite is probably Escape? But I was just thinking again a week or two back that Departure is an extremely close second favorite for me.

Once they left Sony, nearly everything has been done on the cheap and it shows.

ROR, TBF, and Eclipse have the best production, in my opinion.

I love the album. All of the songs are solid and some of my favorites. The sound production always irked me, particularly with the drums.
