Any Way You Want It (neutered)

Perry is up to his old tricks again. First, he destroyed Separate Ways. Now, he has destroyed Any Way You Want It. The trailer for the new Fall Guy movie features the new version of Any Way You Want It which took out all of Neal's guitars and features Perry's vocals from 1980. This has got to stop. They could have just used the original song, but no. They have to neuter the Journey rockers one by one. In 100 years, people are going to think Journey is Air Supply.

Maybe the film studio wanted an edit for a montage?

He did not "destroy" Separate Ways. That is ridiculous. Stranger Things and that version of Separate Ways brought a lot of attention to the song and Journey in general. So much so that it was even on journeymusic.com. I did not read anything from Neal or Jonathan complaining about it.

What should stop is the whining about Perry bringing more focus to Journey than Journey does.

If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

I'm fine with the Separate Ways recording for Stranger Things. It's kind of cool.

But I think that it is going overboard to keep removing Schon's guitars or any other instruments from past Journey songs.

If Perry continues to remove other instruments from past Journey songs, then Journey should release an edit of a past Journey song that Perry sang on with Perry's voice being heard at nothing more than a whisper. Which is basically how Perry sounds for real these days.

Agree it sounds neutered. Removing the music from it doesn't work like it did for Separate Ways on Stranger Things.

If there is a 3rd song the music is removed on, regardless if its cool like Separate ways, I'd have to wonder what the hell is happening. But for now... I'll assume they were just trying to duplicate the success they found with Stranger Things.

I'd think it was the musical director of the movie who had the idea of this version for the trailer....which works well here.

You're making it sound like Perry is hacking the classics up and shopping them around.

This is the third song: Separate Ways, Only the Young, Any Way You Want It.

They already did that on the rerecord of the GH with Revelation...they completely removed Perry's voice and added Arnel's! LOL

And the end result was completely soulless.

Yes, I'm sure Jon said "If the Voice can do it, so can I!"
They're amped up versions for a movie trailer. No information whatsoever on it being released as a single.

Geez... I completely forgot about Only the Young. I liked that one. That's enough, though.

What was Only the Young remix used for again?

It was done for the Frontiers 40th Anniversary. I don't think it was used for anything else. It was done by the same team who did Separate Ways. Maybe it'll be in the final season of Stranger Things?
