The one I will pick is the MTV Guitar Greats concert. Last time I looked for this, a very long time ago, it was not on YouTube. I remember the only solo I liked as much was David Gilmour's. The second solo is good too...but I like the first one a bit more.

I always thought the solo on I can see it in your eyes is very underrated.

What determines them being forgotten or not noticed?

Thought he could have had a great one with After Glow, but it just turned into a hot mess. That song is the one that got away.

Def. missinh Kev Shirley's producing touch on that one. As is, it's just unwieldy and goes on and on.

Well it’s subjective really - I’ve never really noticed the solo in TDTWT … or if I did I’d definitely forgot how great it is

I normally prefer the melodic solos, but when it comes to pure shredding...World Gone Wild kicks a$$.

I dunno why, but for a very long time I thought Evolution was the weakest of the post-Perry, pre-Cain records. These days I love it right nearly alongside Infinity. So many great songs and solos. I love Lovin’ You is Easy. But I really dig Sweet and Simple and Daydream a lot of late! S&S reminds me a lot of Lights throughout. In Schon’s play over the chord movement, I hear a hybrid of his playing over Lights and Of a Lifetime.

Excluding Dream After Dream simply because it's so much different than other Journey albums, my least favorite of the Perry era Journey albums is Evolution.

It's not that I think that it's a bad album. In fact it's a great album. But it is my least favorite largely because I think they played it a little too safe with Evolution compared to other Journey albums. They don't jam very much on that album by comparison. Lady Luck is the closest that they came on Evolution to actually jamming the way that they usually do.

It's always been my guess that Perry had a little too much control over that album and watered it down by Journey standards. Other than Raised On Radio I would say that Evolution comes the closest of any Journey albums to being almost a Perry solo album. Albeit a solo album where he still uses Schon as a sessions guitarist.
