I'm visiting Nashville (first time in the states) in November for a week, on my own. Booked it on a whim really, just had the urge to, nothing planned.
As it turns out, Creed are playing there the same week so i've booked a ticket for that.
If anyone has any recommendations of stuff to do or places to visit then any ideas are welcome

Make sure you visit the Bluebird Cafe.
Tons of history.

Tootsie's and Legends are the historic "honky tonks" on Broadway. Those and similar music bars on Broadway are very (too) crowded on the weekends. Mostly country music but talented performers. Most bands like to throw in a rock tune or two during their set. Kid Rock's, also on Broadway, has a great house band that plays mostly classic rock. Printer's Alley has more eclectic music, some blues, a few blocks uphill from Broadway. While I'm not a big country music fan, the country music museum and Johnny Cash museum were interesting to see. The Ryman Auditorium, the former site of the Grand Ole Opry country music radio show and small venue where bands like Alter Bridge, Extreme and Mr Big play these days. It's worth checking out even if you're not going to a show, its adjacent to Tootsies and Legends.

Lower Broadway and 2nd ave are fun. Downtown is always super crowded on the weekend and expensive. A beer will set you back about $10 at most places.
My favorite place to hang out is red door saloon in midtown. Midtown area isn't as crowded as downtown and has lots of bars.
While you're here get you some hot chicken. Opinions vary on who has the best hot chicken in Nashville. IMHO any of the chicken places downtown and midtown are good.
Be safe and don't fall into the Cumberland River. Been a lot of that happening lately. Lol
