That's just very sad. No matter what you think of his business decisions, not having a relationship with his kid is rough. If this guy didn't have a famous band, he'd be considered a complete loser, and no one would give him 2 minutes of attention.

Daughter of legendary rock guitarist calls out dad in biting TikTok video

The lead guitarist and cofounder of one of America’s most iconic rock bands has received a public callout from a close source: his own child.

Aja Schon, the daughter of Journey cofounder Neal Schon, took to TikTok with a sarcastic announcement on the night of the band’s Aug. 19 Minneapolis tour stop.

“Documenting this moment: My Dad is in town playing with his little band called ‘Journey.’ He didn’t wanna see me, so now I’m at the Dairy Queen drive-thru,” she says in the video, filmed in the front seat of a car. “Stopped believing a long time ago.”

The caption reads: “DQ ice cream is better than 99% of their songs anyways!”

If I remember correctly, Aja’s mother was collecting $3,000/month in child support from Neal while she was growing up so maybe she should ask her mother instead where that mountain of money disappeared to. I’ll bet she didn’t spend it on their daughter.

It’s sad that Neal doesn’t want to have a relationship with her but I question her motives considering she’s an adult now. Does she truly want a relationship with her father or is she just looking for an easy handout?

Her demeanor and chosen profession while living in an area where there’s no financial benefit to being in such a profession suggests to me she’s trying to guilt/shame Neal into bankrolling her life.

My understanding is she put herself through undergrad w/out a single dime from Schon. It's admirable. What "chosen profession" are you referring to?

Sounds like you're really reaching dude. It's just a young girl posting a Tik-Tok.

I have a 19 year old daughter.

I'm really taken aback by this.

Really shitty response from you

None of Schons kids follow him in social media - I think that says everything

From what I understand, child support generally ends when the kid is either 18 or graduates high school. Aja is 21. So Neal has not been legally bound to pay child support anyway...unless it was taken to court and the judge granted it for some reason.

I went to her TIkTok to find the video, and I don't see it anywhere. So, she was probably ordered by Neal to take it down.

I think you missed the part in the article where she said she worked three jobs to put herself through school. Seems like she is doing fine on her own.

Most of us put ourselves through undergrad without a dime from our parents. She’s a “dance choreographer.”

If you're trying to make the case that she mooches off her rockstar daddy, you're not doing so hot.

Come to think of it, she might actually be the first Schon kid to go through college.

Keep punching down dude.

If you think that’s the case I’m trying to make, you’re pretty bad at reading. Keep being a simp I guess.

Imagine watching that video and thinking the daughter is some grifter just looking for the next handout. She literally said he didn't want to see her, and didn't say a single thing about money.

People are so screwed up.

Not that it really matters now but would 3k a month be the legal minimum that Schon should have been paying anyway? Not exactly worth bragging about

SIMP (noun) - defintion - slang/derogatory
a person, especially a man, who is excessively attentive or submissive to an object of sexual attraction.

So basically describing your imagined relationship with Neal. Got it.

You can defend his behavior all you want. He's never going to grease your ass like a fretboard.

Most men can find a few dollars to give their adult kids even if they're broke. Makes no kind of sense.

I thought it was about money; but instead it’s about time! To me, when you put everything up against your craft and career and you choose your career consistently over everything else; you just know it’s coming for you!

Didn't her mom take Neal to court to extend child support/alimony and/or increase it? It seems I remember that from a few years ago...and it seems she lost.

When I look up divorce and paying for college, at least in Iowa, it is split into 1/3's...each parent pays 1/3 and the child pays 1/3. It is based on a typical state college tuition minus financial aid. Also, if the student has a low GPA, the parents are not bound to pay any longer. And, it is only for a 4yr degree.

So, Neal may have paid for some, but not all...and MN may be different.

Which is what she has done, whats the issue?

Though if my Dad was a multi millionaire I'd like to think he would have paid for my college

Not true. In Iowa at Iowa State University, financial aid is limited and a student is required to pay around $15,000/semester...even after full financial aid. So, you are in lala land if you think a 'normal' student is not going to need help from a parent or other sources...or student loans around $200,000. And, AGAIN, Neal is only required to pay 1/3 of that amount...around $15,000/year...about how much it costs for a Journey ticket nowadays...the rest is up to Aja and her mom. And, again, Aja said she worked three jobs to pay for her tuition....and I doubt she is getting full financial aid - probably none at all...in that case, double the $'s above.

I don't know why you have it in for this girl. She should not even have to ask to see her dad, it should be the other way around. She should not have to worry about her college tuition when the founder and owner of all things "Journey" is Neal Schon. This is a ridiculous conversation.

After a child is 18 its all bets off. And yes my family did very limited helped my sisters. I had no help and put myself thru comm college and college. Worked full time all throughout working 60 HR+ weeks. Kids seem so entitled these days.
