Arnel is in Filipino media concerning his failure to appear for an arraignment related to domestic abuse. Only a matter of time until this is picked up by the usual outlets (Blabbermouth etc).

A few links are included below. I have also include the press release from Arnel's attorney.

PRESS RELEASE

(Re: The Reported Warrant Against Arnel Pineda)

We have received reports claiming that a warrant had been issued against Mr. Arnel Pineda in connection with a Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) case. This report, however, is a one-sided narrative that requires clarification and context.

The news item omitted two salient facts:

1. Mr. Pineda filed 2 cases for adultery against his wife, Cherry Pineda, more than one (1) year before Cherry filed this retaliatory suit against him. These 2 cases pending with Branch 34, Metropolitan Trial Court of Quezon City docketed as Criminal Case No. 24-01884; and at Branch III, Municipal Trial Court of Baguio City docketed as Criminal Case No. 31-24-CR-MTCC. Both Cherry and her paramour have posted bail and have been arraigned.
2. The DOJ, on September 4, 2025, issued a Resolution in favor of Mr. Pineda, reversing the findings of probable cause by the Quezon City Prosecutor and directing the Office of the Quezon City Prosecutor to withdraw the Information against Mr. Pineda. The DOJ Resolution has been submitted to the judge hearing the VAWC case.
Nearly two years ago, Mr. Pineda discovered his wife was having an extramarital affair. He obtained video evidence showing Cherry Pineda, his wife, leaving a hotel in Baguio with another man. He also obtained a report from private investigators who testified that Cherry and her paramour have converted a unit in a commercial building owned by Mr. Pineda in Quezon City into their lovenest. As a result, Mr. Pineda filed complaints for Adultery both in Baguio City and in Quezon City. These cases are still undergoing trial.
More than a year later, and only after the adultery complaints were filed and pursued, Mr. Pineda’s wife initiated a VAWC case against him. Although the Office of the City Prosecutor initially found probable cause, the matter was appealed to the Department of Justice (DOJ). The DOJ has since issued a Resolution on September 4 dismissing the VAWC case and directing the withdrawal of the Information, confirming that the complaint against Mr. Pineda was baseless.
Pending resolution of the appeal before the DOJ, the Regional Trial Court of Quezon City took jurisdiction over the case and set it for arraignment. Mr. Pineda was required to appear, but at the time, he was confined in the hospital and could not attend. When the arraignment was later re-scheduled, he remained unable to appear. For this reason, the court issued a bench warrant to compel his attendance.
To clarify, the order issued by the Regional Trial Court is a bench warrant. It is a procedural directive to secure attendance in court proceedings. It arose after Mr. Pineda was unable to attend hearings. This should not be confused with a warrant of arrest for the commission of a crime.
Mr. Pineda has remained silent about this matter out of respect for the judicial process, maintaining that disputes should be resolved in the proper courts of law and not in the court of public opinion. He could have gone to media when the 2 adultery cases were filed in court, but chose to observe the sub judice rule — which his wife obviously violated when she caused the release of this one-sided narrative.
It was Mr. Pineda’s wife who was unfaithful. Cherry was the one who abandoned the family home, leaving the children behind. Since then, she has neither visited the children nor extended any support for their needs, failing to perform her duty as a mother. By contrast, it is Mr. Pineda who has continuously taken care of all the children and provided for them. For a time, even Cherry’s daughter from a previous relationship resided with him and was also supported under his care.
It is certainly difficult to reconcile an abusive husband, as what Cherry projects Mr. Pineda to be, having custody, and taking care, of their common children. No child would ever want to be with a parent who is abusive.
Indeed, the following points must be emphasized:
1. It was Mr. Pineda who first filed a case against his wife because she committed marital infidelity.
2. Mr. Pineda did not abandon his family. It was his wife who did so.
3. The VAWC case against Mr. Pineda had already been dismissed at the DOJ level.
4. The warrant that was issued to Mr. Pineda was merely a Bench Warrant because he was unable to attend the scheduled arraignment.
Mr. Pineda continues to place his trust in the legal process and is prepared to defend himself against unfounded accusations while pursuing the legitimate cases he has filed. The VAWC was filed simply to create a bargaining leverage against Mr. Pineda. Mr. Pineda finds it ironic that his wife who was unfaithful to him would be able to turn the tables and accuse Mr. Pineda of causing emotional abuse because of infidelity. The DOJ was able to see through the absurdity and reversed the findings of the City Prosecutor of Quezon City.
