Wiki tracking Rush videos from around the web.

Postby stevenic » Tue Apr 24, 2007 11:21 am

Hey guys I started a Wiki project last weekend to catalog music videos from my favorite bands and I thought I'd share out the link to my Rush page. (Also shared out the Queensryche link as well under another post)

http://vidwik.wikidot.com/rush (soon to be http://vidwik.org/rush)

I'm not quite finished with my initial pass for finding content for this page (I'm up to Presto) but there's some good stuff on there already. Rush just has so much stuff out there and I've been checking every video for playback quality so it takes a while. :) It's open to anyone with a wikidot account to edit so if you know of something worth adding please do. If anyone knows of any Bangkok recordings I'd really appreciate you linking to them. I couldn't find any on YouTube or the other sites I checked and it's one of my favorites. :(

Sorry there aren't very many other bands yet but feel free to add those if you'd like as well. I'm pretty much a fan of all the other bands on this board so I'm sure I'll eventualy add pages for them all. :)

:? Dude, I'm sure you know that 'Far Cry' video is a homemade thing. I'm not sure I'd count that one.

Other than that, a very nice compilation. :D I have practically everything there that you have on either DVD or VHS (including "Through the Camera Eye" which is a rare one) I need to transfer the latter to DVD before it simply gets too old.

Nice catch... I should have listed that as a "fan" video. Thanks :)

I have most of all this at home on DVD as well and this certainly isn't a replacement for my DVDs. The idea behind the wiki is that a) all this stuff is out there but isn't cataloged very well so why not make it easy for people that aren't as big a Rush fan as I am to find. b) I like a lot of bands but I'm not going to go out and buy everything on video for every band I like.

In just adding the bands I've added to the wiki I've found a lot of great content I didn't even know existed. Some of the Evanesence fan video in particular are really good. If there were others contributing to the project I could totally see me browsing this on a regular basis and using it as a way of finding new videos to buy on DVD.

Thanks again for the feedback :)

Do you have "Through the Camera Eye"?

If not, let me know and we'll "have a beer and talk". :) Maybe I can find an extra copy somewhere.

No... Wish I did... Missouri may be a bit of a drive for a beer though :) I found Countdown and The Body Electric videos on YouTube that were off "Through the Camera Eye" so that's what I linked to off the wiki. I just wish the video quality of what's out there was better. Flash video sucks quality wise but I understand Adobe plans to fix that in an upcoming version of flash.

MSN appears to have the highest quality videos but their selection sucks. YouTube has the best selection of videos but the quality sucks. As much as I hate to admit it, AOL Music seems to be the best overall compermise at this point and I've started linking to them a lot. The quality is good (usually on par with MSN) and they really have a great selection for most artists.
