They haven't packed those kind of capacity numbers in years in the US...(they had a
great turnout last weekend in Bristow, VA when we saw them... estimate around 15,000.)

Ticket prices have doubled and those are outdoor sheds... few acts fill those lawns
unless they have a huge records, huge tour support, and massive airplay on video
and radio outlets...

Trust me...they aren't complaining - they're dooing great summer time business.

Most fans still think most big bands go 'platinum/gold' and sell out 20,000 seats...and
that's just not even close to reality in the last 10-15 years.

For classic bands to sell 100,000-200,000 records and play to 10,000 a night is considered very
successful in this day of digital downloading and $100+ concert tickets...

And clearly they're doing better in some areas than others:

That is one of the biggest attended shows in the U.S. for a Rush show ever and is a confirmed sellout along with Mohegan Sun, Red Rocks, and the first Toronto show.

Exactly...it can be very regional based.

I was at the Mansfield show. It was one fucking hot night. Temps in the 90's and humid but the boys toughed it out and put on a great show. The new material seemed to go over pretty good as well. Definitely a HUGE crowd. Probably the most packed show I've seen in Mansfield.

Madison Square Garden looked packed to me. I don't know for sure if it was a sell out. But if it wasn't it must have been close. It can't be too bad since they're going to hit the sheds next summer as well. But I'm afraid we may not hear from them for awhile after the next tour. Hope I'm wrong and they surprise us with another album in 09.

I've been to two of the sheds mentioned a number of times. The Hi Fi Buy Amp ( used to be Coca Cola Amp.) in Atlanta is in a bad area and the safety of parking options there is questionable....and costly. The lawn area is also quite large to fill. The acoustics there are good for an outdoor shed though. The Ford Amp. doesnt have as large of a lawn area, ..there is more seating though. There is plenty of parking at the venue so you dont have to park off site...but the acoustics are not good there at all....even when you are in a seat. Anywhere past the covered seats the sound is terrible...you have to cup your ears with your hands to really hear the music right. If the shows were held at an indoor facility I think they stood a better chance of selling out....in Atlanta you have to get your tickets as early as you can for indoor shows. There is a venue in Gwinnett county outside of Atlanta that really sells well.
